No key on lights after duraspark swap

AFTER I DID THE DURA SPARK SWAP I HAVE NO KEY ON LIGHTS IN THE DASH CLUSTER. IS THIS NORMAL ?I REMOVED THE HARNESS AND THE COMPUTER AND CUT THE WIRES FROM THE SQUARE PLUG TO THE HARNESS THAT WENT INTO THE COMPUTER HARNESS BUT LEFT THE SENSOR WIRES FOR THE TEMP, HOT FOR COIL,HOT FOR ELETRONIC CHOKE,AND THE 2 WIRES FOR THE ALTERNATOR .DID I CUT OFF MORE THEN I SHOULD HAVE ? HAS ANY ONE HAD THIS PROBLEM TOO?

What do u mean no key on lights? Like when u first turn the key on and all the "dummy" lights come on? Or no dash lights for the guages?

If its the dummy lights I wouldn't worry about it. My emissions and brake dummy lights always stayed on so I pulled the bulbs

yea the key on lights as in the battery light would do a bulb check and the brake ,but now none come on i wonder if its cause i removed the computer ,also now i notice if i let the key sit in the on position the balast starts to smoke it will start right up but it gets hot and smokes i used the painless wire kit from summit for my swap

There are a few guys on here that have done successful durasparks. Check out the 2.8 liter engine forum. Sounds like you are really close to success.
