disciplerocks's B2 build thread

so that'll work on an RBV?

Not exactly. The TREs are the same size, but the Jeep ones are shorter. Takes a little modding, but the ZJ uses the same size stock so I will swap the one TRE with a D35 one.

ah, i see. interesting.....so are you running a drop pitman arm, or does it not require one with that set up?

This was my way of avoiding a drop pitman arm, but its turned into more trouble than its worth.

I didn't know anything about using it on a RBV. I just know it's a major upgrade over the other d30 steering. It's what I'm gonna use on my d30

Here are a couple comparison pics

XJ on top ZJ on bottom

Stock RBV D35 TRE on top, ZJ TRE on bottom. Note the length difference.

This is what I am going to end up doing. Gonna tack this to the top of the knuckle. I am sure washers would work, but I couldn't find any 5/8 ones laying around and this piece of scrap already had 2 holes in it.

nice setup if it works out.. the zj steering is pretty beefy for stock stuff.

i think i'm just gonna rock the drop pitman arm til i save up for stonecrusher

Maybe I'm lost, but whats the washer/spacer for :icon_confused: From the pics, it doesn't look like the ZJ TRE has a longer stud, but actually a shorter one :dunno:

To reduce the inlet hole. Since it is shorter, it doesnt fit in the knuckle properly and stays loose when tightened all the way.

I was thinking of some type of sleeve or bushing or something to use in place of the washer, since the washer would take up the slack, but still allow the TRE to "move" inside the knuckle...Any way to source/research a bushing/sleeve :icon_confused:

I gotta pick up one for the bottom too to make sure it stays in line. I'll admit its not the best idea, but it is going to be 100 times better than the way I was running the XJ setup. I would love to find something I could use for a sleeve. Someday I'll invest in some hiems and build my own setup.
