7.5L_STX: SAS, Big Block Swap

It's an NP231D, not HD. The interior is fine, much bigger than an RBV, especially the newer ones. The paint is fine. The Magnum V8 is very tough (lets see a stock bottom end SBF put up with 650+hp like a Magnum will, the SBF block itself can't even do it). And automatics suck in general (Ford sure has a great reputation with it's RBV autos ) nothing new here (I solved this by getting a 5 speed), same with IFS.

i like the 1st gen dakotas. i dont mind the interior and i could care less about paint. i just didnt feel like sourcing a 5 speed and goin through the hassles. i wish ford would have had the balls to do what dodge did and put a SB in a little truck.

meh, im just gonna wait and save up for a newer ranger or an older diesel ford.

So what you're saying is i dont have to take a day off to drive up there and kick your a$$ for selling fury?

Bummer i was looking forward to meeting you.

no ass kicking necessary lol...but ya can come up and provide some free labor once i get some cash flow this summer. ill even pay ya in beer

Back at ya bud! I somehow doubt ill have the free time to make the trip up there, its almost overtime season!

so what exactly needs doing on this currently to make it go down the road??

A motor comes to mind. Or did you end up with The 351

nope, never ended up getting that bronco and it was a 302.

to make it "work" i need to get the engine mounted, fuel/brake lines ran, radiator mounted then get the C6 rebuilt and the driveshafts built.

after those it would technically be done but i plan on goin through the engine and throwin a cam at it this winter. me and my dad talked it over and im gonna stock up all the parts i need over the summer and were gonna throw it all together once i get everything. ill probably start buying stuff sometime this month.

heres what i want to buy this summer to be happy with my build in the end.
C6 rebuild kit ( do they make a heavy duty type rebuild kit?)
manual valve body for said C6
Decent intake manifold
Decent Cam
4.56s for the 44 and 9"
high steer knuckles (or i may do just flip the tie rod)
one of the summit fuel pump/regulator kits
radiator...may make a roll bar in the bed and mount it on that i already have 2 12" E-fans, havent decided yet...Pros? Cons?
Edelbrock carb

and i may do heims on the front and on the RA...not sure on this yet either.

some of the parts i wouldnt mind finding used but some i know i want new.

any suggestions concerning dong the bed mouted rad or the tranny? Also, does anybody know what i could do for heat? the cylinder head kind of covers up the heater hole.:icon_confused:

all ive heard about rear mounted rads is they're a pain to burp the air out of them other then that i dunno..

oh and i want to take the body off to rebuild my Body mounts(theyre pretty much gone lol), plate some of the frame, build my sliders and sandblast then por15 the frame.

Box the frame at the engine compartment!!

You'll torque it to hell if you don't. Also think about the weight difference of the 4.0 and the 7.5

your 460 is 720 lbs while the 4 liter is approx 386... so those springs will not perform in real use... they'll snap as soon as you hit a bump or sag to the point of steering issues. I'd get the bigger springs and save you the hassle of doing it later.

ummm.... think about it.

you have two connecting points, the pivot and the shock/spring (not counting the radius arms 'cause they don't matter in my scenerio) the frame pushes down on both. One gives while the other doesn't so all the weight is on the one that gives... or the spring.

the fact that it's a lever just affects the angle of which the spring compresses.

so the springs are simply designed for the weight of the engine/truck/rate of compression/intended use....

i did not see this till now.:icon_confused:

unless you building a bruiser like mentioned previously

disregard this information.

they make anything you want for a c6...it's been a race favorite for several decades.
manual valve body for said C6
personally,i'd say don't waste your time.they're fun at first but kinda get old fast.a nice moderate shift kit is better.
Decent intake manifold
Decent Cam
performer rpm work well.the engine won't die every time you back off the gas,and the power's good.
4.56s for the 44 and 9"
if you're doing the above, don't waste money buying gears for these.go right for the 10.25(or 14bolt or whatever)and 60.trust me.really.

go for it.run 2 1/4'' exhaust pipe for the return,2'' for the supply.only use rubber to connect the ends to the engine and rad.keep the cap above the intake on the engine. or the tranny? Also, does anybody know what i could do for heat?
put the heater box in the back of the cab.run dryer vent up to the dash. the cylinder head kind of covers up the heater hole.:icon_confused:

there.no problem.get it done.

thanks for the tips! :icon_thumby:

60s are in this trucks future but not for awhile (i have to use up all my spare 44 shafts first :icon_rofl:) so you think i would be fine with the 3.50s that are in the axles now?

gwaii was reading my mind save for the heater box....but theres many ways to setup hvac...

likely run a front radiator too, but rear is easier to deal with especially for cleaning if setup correctly.
