I am putting a C5 into my truck as part of a V8 swap, it is all installed with the t-case mounted... the A4LD 4wd linkage isn't even close to lining up.

Anyone have a pic of how the C5 linkage looks so I can try to adapt my A4LD junk to do the same thing?

The stock link rods won't work with the V8. I would get a C5 floor shifter if you can, but this is what I did.

I have a B&M cable shifter for the tranny, my problem is with the t-case linkage. Even in 4wd the lever hits the dash (I can heat and bend it back) but it is nowhere close to lining up on the T-case end. As near as I can tell that fork thing has to move just right to move the lever on the t-case itself just right thru the three selections

This is what I have now...

I was kind of at odds where to post this, but I figured guys had done A4LD to C5 swaps would have ran into the same problem.

Are you using a 1350 T-case?
The shifter gate doesn't look right to me.

Yeah, 1350.

I am pretty sure that the shorter C5 is making the lever come out farther ahead than it should. Right now it is hitting the front of the hole in 4hi (won't go into 2wd) but it is a simple matter to heat it and bend it back so it clears the hole. I just showed that to so you can see how goofed up everything is down below.

Is the lever being as it is now mucking up everything down below? Or will this linkage even work with what I am trying to do?

The linkage and t-case were perfectly happy together with the A4LD, now... not so much.

I'm using the shift lever from a Geo metro (not kidding) and made my own brackets on the transmission. I am also using cables from a Camero that I purchased on e-bay. All told, about $5.00 invested. The shift lever from the C-5 didn't fit (to long of a throw) hence the metro shifter. I'd include pictures, but I don't know how to do that. Sorry.

I have a shifter from a 1350 in the shop,Ill try to sanp a pic and show you what Im talking about.
You may have to open the hole in the trans tunnel a little also.

The slots in the gate are different and it looks like the arm itself is to long.

Crud, that is too much to adapt, the lever wouldn't be too bad but if the gate is different...

Anything besides a C5 truck use this linkage? Not sure how common it will be to turn one up...

Thanks a lot for the pictures.

No problem,I think your going to be stuck with finding the C-5 linkage.
Let me look tomm,I know I need the gate but not the arm,if not its yours.
Ill help you all I can you just have to post a pic of the goofy look on your face when you first crank it up lol.

you need a TK4/C5 trans application 1350 shifter.

You'll also need the shorter shift arm for the t-case.

At first this sounded promising, but Totalled kind of ruined that. It seems if I could find the parts I would need I would also likely get the arm too.

Thanks for the pics BTW Totalled.

Looking at my linkage some more, I wonder if I could cut the arm off and angle it down more, run a link with a turnbuckle in it up to the t-case lever and then alter the bump between 4hi and 4low to fit.

How hard is it to change that shift arm?

I don't see a way to get it out from the outside, not really crazy about splitting the case... :fie:

Is yours not retained with a nut to the shift shaft? It looks like it in the pic you posted.

To be honest I didn't even look at mine, but in your pic comparing the two levers it looks like it is held on by something on the inside.

If I get one from a yard I would either have to get the whole case and hope it is good or take that lever off somehow.
