Background & Expertise

Brief biography:

I’m an electrical engineer at a tour bus company. I design and build all the low and high voltage systems along with the AV and IT networks.

How long have you been a member of The Ranger Station?

I joined officially in 2021. I did frequent the site when searching for answers when repairing my old Rangers. First probably in 2004.

How did you first get into Ford Rangers or off-roading?

I kind of fell into Rangers. I too enjoyed a little speed. In 1994 I had a built a 1986 Mustang. After finishing the motor. I tore 2nd gear out the first night at the drag strip. I bought an 85 2wd 5-speed 4-cylinder Ranger to get around while it was getting fixed. It was so slow haha. I lowered it and my dad ended up putting a 302 and C6 in it after I left it sitting when the Mustang was fixed. Then that’s all I wanted to drive. I’ve loved the little trucks since. I’m on #6 if you count my Sport Trac. The 88 STX was my first 4×4. That roll bar grabbed my heart at first site. It introduced me to mud. That offroad passion for getting offroad started there. Probably around 1995 or 96

Any certifications, qualifications, or education worth noting?

I have an Electronics Engineering Technology degree. I work daily with 12v, 110v, Audio Video, and CanBus networks.

What specific areas of expertise or interest do you bring to TRS?

I’m not an expert in any area. I can help with ideas and design for DIY mods. I can help you build out electrical or camping setups such as auxiliary batteries, solar power, and inverter systems.

What kind of Ranger(s) (or Bronco II, Explorer, etc.) do you currently own or have owned in the past?

My current Ranger is a 2020 XLT Sport 4×4 with the rear e-locker. It’s sitting with a Torch Offroad 2.5″ level kit in the front and an add a leaf in the back from Stage 3 Motorsports. It’s still rocking stock struts and shocks and 285/75R17 Yokahama G003MTs. Currently running a Ctek 30amp DC to DC charger. I have a 100w solar panel. 1000w Victron inverter and 180 amp hours of AGM battery. 34-quart Webasto Black Forest 12v fridge has been in the back for 3-years now. More mods and upgrades to come though.

Contribution to TRS

What do you do at TRS?

I helped host my first event. The Ranger Adventure 2025. Although, me and Jim were the only to show. We still had a good time. I hope to help host more events in the future.

Do you contribute or help with specific areas of the forum?

I try and contribute any way I can. I promote the site on other platforms. I try and help where I can when people have questions.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the TRS community?

I definitely enjoy the people and gatherings. In today’s crazy it’s nice to just get together and hear crazy Ranger stories. Somehow Bobby is always in hahaha. I like seeing everyone’s visions of these trucks come to life and be supported.

Fun & Personal

Favorite Ford vehicle ever?

Does Mercury count? I’ve always loved the 67 Cougar. Just a small block with an auto.

Favorite mod or upgrade you’ve ever done?

My favorite mod to the truck right now is the Safari Snorkel. I just love the sound when you’re on the skinny pedal.

Most memorable off-road trip or experience?

My most memorable trip was of course the Vagabond trip. Was packed full of terrific sites surround with good people. The trip that made the most impact on my build though was the first trip on the Georgia Traverse with Curious Hound Overland. I always loved to be out camping. Always love off pavement exploring. He showed me how fun a combination of both could be.

One piece of advice you’d give to a new Ranger owner:

Hmmm…. I guess my advice would be join TRS forum. Not only will you have some of best knowledge and experience floating around. You will also get to meet some of the best people spread across the country (sometimes international) you will ever share a campfire with.
