Well, picked up a new to me car today. this will be a daily driver commuter. gas is to expensive to keep driving the truck.

commute is 140 miles daily (round trip) and with gas sitting at $4.45 a gallon, well, it adds up lol.

so i picked up this focus today, 70k miles on the clock, and she got 30 mpg on the drive home. this was in an inch of slushy snow on the roads haha. so dry roads in summer i should see 31-32 i hope. either way, shes gonna save me a lot of cash.

few quick pics.

Nothing major planned as of right now. Probably get some new wheels on there to spruce up the looks a bit. and some tinted windows. but shes gonna be staying how she is for a little while anyways.

has a steeda Air intake, was already on it. sounds awesome but im sure it has no performance gains as CAI's are a joke imo lol

Nice find. Does it have the Z-tec or the SPI?

has the zetec. in my research i found the spi was less desireable than the zetec.

peppy little thing. loving it so far. its just a bare bones model. no cruise, manual everything etc. which i like. less to go wrong, and if it does its not gonna be difficult or expensive to fix.

probably going to grab some new wheels for it. 17's maybe. black. and ill throw some winter tires on the 16's for winter.

Yeah, the Ztec is the better engine. The SPI has bottom end issues.

Just make sure to get a new PCV elbow on it quick. Those things collapse and make them idle funny.

i got a small list of things to do short term. although everything looks great mechanically.
which, it should since it was owned by the used car lots mechanic lol.

only "issues" are cosmetic. which is why it was so cheap (compared to other vehicles here, it is canada after all) few small dings, and tiny tiny bit of surface rust. really, for an 04 in the rust belt its in great shape. really happy so far. i cant stop adding up the numbers in my head on fuel savings lol. its insane. why i didnt buy a car sooner is beyond me. could have saved 7 grand by now if i bought one before the truck!

That is the one thing I love about my commute. It is 9 miles one way, the long way around.

The BII's tank will last for a month.

i would love that lol. my truck can go 3 trips, in, out, and in again. then shes done. i usually just fill it every day llol car should go two days

Yeah, the guy I work next to just bought a beat up Neon that we traded in for $600 and stopped driving his lifted Grand Cherokee about 3 weeks ago. The car has already paid for itself.

Nice looking car!

I bought a Miata for my daily driver. But my drive is only 9.5 miles one way lol.

Funny I suggested that you pick up a commuter and now you got one!

Those look like they are in really good shape. That style had lots of problems with the clear coat peeling.

yeah they were replaced under warranty for that issue. and over the winter he had steelies on but his car got tboned and written off. so he had these brand new wheels with barely any miles on em he couldnt use.

so i got a good deal. If/when the clear starts peeling ill have em sandblasted and powder coated.

slapped em on. wasnt oging to but the stockers had sidewall cuts in one tires. no bueno.

Yeah, we replace those wheels under warranty more than anything else. And those are just the ones that people complain about. For every one I do I must see three or four more that the owner never bothered to ask to have them replaced. And since Ford doesn't like it when we "upsell warranty" (Fixing things under warranty that aren't safety-related issues when the customer hasn't brought it up first), we don't do them if the customer doesn't complain.
