I have had nothing but trouble with this place. I thought Microsoft Customer Service was horrible.

Back in February of 2006, I bought Heather her engagement ring from Zales. I ordered it off zales.com. I proposed to Heather April 1, 2006. (I know, April Fools)

Not long after we noticed the diamond in the center was crooked. We took it in and they sent it off to be fixed. It came back and looked OK, but within a week or so it was back to the way it was prior.

We had it in there for a good 3 of the first 6 months she had it. They finally replaced it, or so they say, and the new one has the same exact problem.

Fast forward to December 2007. Heather and her mom were at a Zales in Heath, Ohio. The lady noticed how crappy it looked and told her she would order her a new ring, in the proper size, so it would not have to be sized and therefore screw up the diamonds. Said it would take four weeks. No word, they called back the end of January, and the ring had never been ordered. The lady said she would place the order come Monday. Waited another 4 weeks, come the end of February. Called back, the ring is not in, the lady is too busy to find out why, she would call Heather back in a couple days. Never heard from her. Now the lady OFFERED to do this, they didn't go in to the store in December to bitch, but the lady noticed and offered to replace it.

A few days later I now get involved. I call the store in Heath, the number is disconnected. Store is gone!! I am given a new number to call.

It just so happens this new number is to a store in Eastland Mall, which is right around the corner from Heather's house. However, the lady who worked at the heath store is off with pneumonia, she now works at the eastland store.

I talk to a guy named Chris who promises to resolve the issue. We go in last Thursday night and Chris is there. He says he will order a new ring even though we don't know if the other woman ever did like she said she would. He needed my order number which was at home. I told him I would fax it Friday morning, which I did.

I call him Friday afternoon and he says the fax machine is broken and he can't get the order out. He would fax me a confirmation when he does. We had a snow storm on Friday evening so the mall was closed Saturday. I get a call from him Monday letting me know that 'corporate' doesn't think the order number I gave him is enough and he is waiting on them to call him back. He now wants me to fax him my monthly billing statements from when I was paying on the ring... yeah NOT! I told him he has my name and order number, it should be plenty.

He tells me he is trying hard to get it fixed. I then tell him, no offense, but that's what the last lady said three months ago, so until I have a faxed confirmation in my hand, I won't believe it is taken care of. This made him angry. I didn't care though. I figure spending $2000 on a ring should mean something, right?

I call in today and he is off.

I plan on going back tomorrow.

Which one of you should I call from Jail to come bail me out?:pissedoff:

clarkhoward.com.get some good advice, its cheaper than bail and easier than cavity search and delousing.

wow, what a run around, sorry to hear that. It seems like their trying to pull something. I haven't bought anything from there yet and most likely never will. Thanks for the heads up.

columbus? ah ur not too far...i'll get ya out :)

i deal with kay jewelers all the time. never had a problem

Heather got me a white gold band from Kays. I never take it off.. It's had oil, grease, gas, tools, you name it on it and banged into it and it still looks new.

She's a teacher for goodness sakes... Its not like she abuses the ring.

I could fly down there and get you out no problem, actually I have a better idea. How about I flys down there and help you resolve the issue and then 86isuzu can bail both of us out. I think it would be funny.

we could go wreak havoc and have my g-pop from dayton come there to bail us both out :P

been there done that with places....i dotn leave the store until its taken care of same day with confirmation in my hand

the diamond district isnt that far from me!

Have you talked to anyone in their corporate offices? A general customer service line to file a complaint about the way it's been handled? Screw the store - move up the chain of command to people who are getting paid more than minimum wage

I didn't put that in my original post, as the post was too long to begin with.

We called the Customer Support before I went in and talked to Chris. They were very concerned and said they would find something out and call us back. A week later is when I got pissed and just went to the store.

I called them again last night and talked to a woman who put me on hold for 20 minutes and never came back. So I hung up and called back. Told the second lady I talked to, I didn't enjoy being put on hold and forgotten about. This lady seemed to actually care. But, all they do is call the store to see if it's been resolved. As far as them ordering it for me, I don't think that's an option. I still do plan on going over to the store tonight.

I bet ole Chris is really hot with me now that corporate is breathing down his neck.

do you have a good paper trail showing payments etc?

take the name of the person dealing with you for customer service, ask to escalate if need be, give feedback about individuals that helped you or were not helpful - that drives their scores

Shoulda went to jared. Never once seen an unsatisfied customer in the commercials and the employee's looked very happy to help customers. Plus when your wife is with her gf's they will all be talking and be like, oooh he went to jareds and then you would have gotten some points in your favor.

Yeah sure, the commercials say everything, if it's any concelation, the Zales commercials show happy people too. But type in "Zales Complaints" in google and the commercials become a lot less enticing.

I have all the paperwork from my payments. I paid it off a long time ago. I have everything. This could get ugly.

Sorry to hear about your trouble with Zales.

I've pruchased a few things there over the years with no problems. In fact they've always been the easiest and friendliest place to shop.

Most recent was Valentines Day. I picked some stuff out, got half way through the purchase and changed my mind. I picked something else and bought it. While walking out, something else cought my eye and the next day, I returned everything and bought that instead. The same lady helped me, the owner I believe, and was very happy to get my gift just right for me. Also, JFYI, this store uses a local repair guy that has his own store, who is also very reputable. I know because I asked her while I was there.

As a matter of fact, my mother has been telling me to go there forever, my grandmother too! lol. If not Zales, Michaels.

Zales has been around a long time, I would let any amount of internet complaints bother me. They sell millions.

I've also had good luck with Fred Meyer Jeweler.
