Hey all, as gas prices being to climb towards $4.00 per gallon, I've been thinking about investing in a 50cc moped/gas scooter, whatever you prefer to call them. So if you have a moped, how many CC does it have, what brand is it, and just any other info on it. Also, just a rough guess on acceleration, top speed, and if you wouldn't mind, your weight to give me an idea of what to expect. Thanks everyone!

ugly chicks are like mopeds .. fun to ride but dont want to let your friends catch ya

those motors that you retro fit onto a regular bicycle suppose to be nice i believe

I had a pacer moped once. I wanted it soooo bad when I was about 12 or 13. My parents got it for me, used of course. I rode it once and hated it.

Something about having to pedal it and then all the blue smoke puffing out of the tiny exhaust made me feel a little strange.

I parked it in the garage, and they sold it a few years later.

my grandparents had a scooter, which was a ton of fun to ride, i think it topped out at 35 mph and i'm like 150, so you wont win any races, but can't argue with the mpg...I would personally get a motorcycle instead if i had the choice.

ever watch the movie hot rod? lmao

My Harley gets 65MPG on the highway, 55 around town. And its a lot more fun to drive than a scooter. :icon_thumby:

Scooters suck. think about adding 2 stroke oil on the really crappy ones and the cost goes up. If they're not a major brand the life expectancy is that of a fruitfly. They handle about as well as a skateboard and the little wheels will dump you on your head when you least expect it. Get a real motorcycle and good gas mileage too.

We had a moped years ago it was Ok to ride but really lacked power here on the hills. Get a motorcycle and have tons more power way funner to ride. My bike gets around 65-70 MPG and feels way nicer than any moped I ever rode.

Scooters aren't really practical for me because the only places I really drive to are school and work. School is about 18 miles each way, all highway. Can't really drive a moped where everyone is doing 75 mph. I only work twice a week and it's about 2 miles each way. If I worked every day, then maybe it would be practical. And I would never get a real motorcycle after I saw one crash on the highway last summer. I'd rather pay $50 a week to fuel my truck than die!
