You guys have mopeds/scooters?

I have a gas powered golf cart I drive in the summer, only goes about 20mph but it gets over 60mpg and it's cooler than a scooter!

My scooter is 1500cc with a stage III jet kit, K&N Filter\Air box mod and Vance & Hines Longshots.......If I baby it I get about 40mpg Hwy and 36 city, Now the way I like to ride, it gets 38 Hwy and 33 City

I used to have a red 50cc '89 Honda Spree when I was 15 before i had my license. Didn't run when I bought it, paid 50 bucks and found the spark plug was caked and exhaust was plugged. After getting a new spark plug, it started and went about 15mph. After cleaning the exhaust out, 25mph. Finally cleaning / tuning, etc, 32mph. LOL I probably weighed 110 pounds at best then. Acceleration was not bad, but not good either. For the size of the engine, it's actually pretty amazing that it can even put out that much power.

I never really paid any attention to the gas mileage since gas was like $1.10 then, but I recall it being pretty good on gas. Suspension was great - compared to my minibike. I used to jump it, it seen it's abuse, it really held up. It was more of a toy than a means of transportation.. I would probably be reluctant to get another one though, but hey, why not?

Gas is almost 4.00 where you are?! I think I paid 3.099 the other day for regular unleaded..

We're at about $3.30 now, but we've been rising 2-3 cents per day the last couple weeks. And we're projected to be at $4.00 by June.

I got a 2002 honda xr50. Its bone stock so right now is still fit for a little kid. But with a few suspension :headbang:mods and a big bore kit this thing will be a 100+cc thumper. I am not sure of street legalitys out here in Denver but I am pretty sure a light kit new tires and exhaust would do it. That would kick ass because I live only a few miles from work which would only take minutes on a mini-bike.:headbang:

But I wouldnt be caught dead on a moped. Those are for those fruity types that carry purses and call em man bags.:idiot:

Not a Moped, but my dad has a Kawasaki KLR 250 Dual Sport that gets about 80mpg. It'll do 65-70, but over that it is too light of a bike and gets pushed around by air drafts/ cars and the wind. Good commuter, and fun toy for the weekends!!

I don't know how much you are looking to spend, but if I were you, I'd seriously look into a Dual Sport dirtbike. Fun to ride, good commuter, and good toy, best of all worlds! And you won't mind your friends seeing you riding it, :haha: .

Got two of those Yamaha RAZZ. They came with the motorhome with a rear bumper carrier. They are 50cc and about 35mph a blast to have mini races with but the fat guy will lose everytime.

Scooters aren't really practical for me because the only places I really drive to are school and work. School is about 18 miles each way, all highway. Can't really drive a moped where everyone is doing 75 mph. I only work twice a week and it's about 2 miles each way. If I worked every day, then maybe it would be practical. And I would never get a real motorcycle after I saw one crash on the highway last summer. I'd rather pay $50 a week to fuel my truck than die!

Maybe I should sell my truck and only drive my motorcycle, I have seen some horrible wrecks and the occupants died......:c-n:

Yea, you can die in just about any vehicle, but there is no way a motorcycle is anywhere near safer than a car/truck.

I have a 1500cc air cooled volkswagon powered buggy that is street legal. At least it will be when im done putting it back together. Its got a 4 speed and I get roughly 35-40 miles per gallon. Its also got enough power to lift the front wheels if I drop the clutch at a stop light. Lucky for me I will be sailing all summer. WOOHOO no gas! But what a shock it is going to be when I go to fill the tank come August. Eeek. And Im lifting it in August, oh boy I sure hope I get some good scholarships and student loans.

Got the wife a 06 yamaha vino 50 one year ago. Accelerates reasonably well. Its a 4 stroke so no mixing oil and gas. Just pull up to the pump and about $4 later your ready to go. Gets over 100mpg. Best so far is 110mpg and I think over time it might get a little better. only got 1000 miles on it now. It will get up to 40mph so works great in town. I would rather ride a new scooter and get 100mph than have to get a 15-20 year old car that get 30, becasue the difference in gas money will take a big chunk out of what you can afford.

I am looking to get a harley soon just becasue work is 40 miles one way. But the wife's work if only about 8 miles so she rides if almost everyday that it is nice out.

Exactly. I have an '04 Sportster. Good way to commute and save gas, plus I can go across the state on it or ride on the freeway if I want. I've heard of smaller bikes that get about 70MPG.
