Got everything wired up i believe but i cant turn the motor over with the key, i think its the clutch switch that only lets you start it with the clutch depressed. How do i jump this, and where is the switch... I believe its under the dash on the clutch pedel right? but what two wires do i have to jump together??? is it pink and red/lt blue... It turns over if i jump the solenoid with a screw driver, just not with the key... thanks for your help again

I believe there is only 2 wires on clutch switch if i remember correctly
and the switch is on the pedal where the master cyl rod connects andthe 2 wire colors you mentioned seems right.

the easy way is to put a jumper in from an auto truck.:icon_thumby:

I bought the jumper switch from an auto but I asked the same question in this forum a while back and got an answer but can't remember..do a search...I'm too lazy...lol...

wires

My 84 had the wires at the clutch pedal and also a wire harness on the left frame rail for a neutral safety switch, which I hooked up to my B&M shifter.

Clutch Switch Jumper #2

According to the diagram, jumper pink-to-pink. Circuit #329 to circuit #329A. No need to worry about Circuit 511B. It would jumper to a terminal that isn't used anyway. That might help.
RPO just means "Regular Production Option", and E97B-14B155-AA is a usable part number (it will cross). I bought (ordered) mine using that number from a local dealership.

If you can find one at a junkyard out of a Ranger with an auto tranny you'll save $$ tho'. If memory serves me correctly it was about $20. I didn't want to cut wires. I might want to go back to a manual tranny some time and it maintains the stock configuration. Keeps my options open.

I would highly recommend that you purchase a wiring diagram for both the donor vehicle and your '89 Ranger. $$ well spent.

Best to you - let us know how it works.

Well, kinda a cob job, but i just cut the pink, and ran a direct wire to the starter solenoid. I just wanted to get it turning over... thanks for the wiring diagram though its guna be a big help when i do put back in the neutral saftey switch. I just got my truck running two nights ago. I have some minor things to fix before i can drive it, blew out a brake line & tranny pan is leaking. Besides that it sounds great... took about 30 seconds of cranking and fired right up... carb needs a little bit of tunning yet, i might actually have to go with a 650dp cause this ones choking when the vaccum 2ndarys try and open up. I think with my cam and motor work im not making enough vaccum.

I busted a hump puttin' that diagram together. And, you "just cut the pink" wire. :icon_rofl: Be that way! :yahoo:
