Is my 94 capable of being push started? Or does that silly switch on the clutch pedal louse that up? It has been 20 yrs since my last manual trans and that was a '63 Willys. What if Iwanted to crank the engine over in gear? That and and the key dinger is on the "is this modern convienence worth lugging around? " short list. :icon_idea:

You can push start anything with a manual trans and no anti-theft system. You can do it with the anti-theft if you have the right key.

As for cranking in gear, I know on the older ones the auto trans had the plug for the clutch switch, it just had a jumper plug in it. If you grabbed the jumper plug and put it in there it would crank in gear. Not sure if yours has that too or if they eliminated it by then. Worth a poke at the junk yard.

I have used the starter motor to move dozens of vehicles (no not far).
A ? .5 to 1 hp bump can move a tail pipe end off a dirt berm far enough to unplug the exhaust to allow the engine to start. Never mind the ability to move back or forward short distances.

It is on my short list to add a loom off the factory clutch switch and run a toggle/push button to bypass. It may not be a good idea to eliminate the stock feature, I don't think the average person is getting any smarter.

I did it when my switch broke one day because the jumper was $2 at the junk yard, the switch was $50.

As for the average idiot, I'm not worried about them because nobody but me needs to be driving my truck.

Yah, I did something similar with my Valiant Torqueflite when the NSS went. Jumped it to ground and never looked back. If you practiced normal protocol, you'd never know anything was wrong. If you didn't...
