YAY! Truck Found!

Fawk that, don't waste $350 on that pile of crap. My three cheap Rangers were free, $50, and $100 - deals are out there, all three of those ran and drove too. If he won't take $100 for it then walk away and forget about it.

dude, I am 17 in a place where everyone thinks their shit is gold because of the damn gas company. well, sorry to say not everyone is going to get some of that cash, but I am sure that I am not going to South Dakota to buy a stupid ranger.

I cannot say how many people tell me this crud about their being better deals over here, thats a waste of money.

matter of fact, this is the only first gen ranger I have seen for sale out here that was within my price range thats not crap!

And I have only seen 3, 1 on craigslist (500), and the one we bought. the third is at the dealer's

Ok, let me put it to you this way. There are better trucks in junkyards in EVERY state. Unless that one runs and drives it is NOT worth a penny more than its scrap price which right now would be about $150. There is nothing special about a first gen Ranger.

Quote for scrap was 350, that's common here, we got a lot of people that want vehicles around here, and a lot of them end up at the local yards as PARTS ONLY trucks, and in order to buy a vehicle, you have to buy every part on the truck.

sorry to burst your bubble.. but yea, its crap.

Okay, then instead of telling me I am wrong, find a Ford Ranger, 350 or less, that is better than this truck.

Or if anything else, find any vehicle that's a car or truck by Ford, or a truck by dodge or chevy, that is for under $500 that's worth it.

I looked at this truck, the only thing that is shot are the tires and the interior. The engine is still good.

MY LOCATION:
Zip: 16901
Distance: 20 miles, PA only

how do you know the motor is good? motor could be shot, trans could be shot, axle could be shot. you cant tell if a truck is junk or not by just looking at it in a pile of trees.
seriously, you cant

It ran when he put it there 2 years ago, it was a working tradein

yeah, thats true, but the engine is still savable, its not a bad truck, just the interior is shot, its a flawless everything else, 2 trucks, this one will be the one to hit the road.

But about to say fuk it and then go to the motorcycle, but I am still kinda confused to which I should =p

ah well, the motorcycle it is

So he parked a working trade-in in the bushes with the windows down?

You have a Ranger right? Put the body on this frame and do the timing belt.

If the bike turns over, I'd get it. That'd likely be much easier to get going.

When I called today, the dealer told me the truck was a parts truck (he hesitated to say it though), and when I asked him how much he wanted for it, he paused for a second and told me 350.

It is a parts truck for a reason. $350 is not scrap, scrap yards charge by the lb, not really about what fair market value is... because the people they sell to won't pay that much because it will be a crushed cube.

That is, unless maybe he is counting all the iron and crap in the back... that would make it worth more for scrap and you could still scrap the junk to recoup the cost. If you use it to fix up your truck you could scrap whatever is left to recoup money too.

Don't count on figuring on finding a nice truck for cheap, you might make a good one out of a couple trucks but usually they are cheap for a reason.

I say it is worth $150 because I have scrapped four cars and a pickup box trailer in the last two weeks. The most I got for any single one was $260 and that was a 4400lb fullsize Bronco that was LOADED with other stuff. Everything else has been around $150 and that Ranger would be too.

He can say the engine is good all he wants but two years of moisture in an engine can destroy it, not to mention like Hepto said, every seal is probably shot. Waste of time, offer $100 or walk away - you will find a better deal in time. That's my final piece of advise, take it or leave it.
