You're Alternator Suddenly DIES! haha. Replaced it today, it was the original MotorCraft one haha. I got a Duralast with a lifetime warranty! :icon_thumby:

that is a shitty situation right there i had it happen once i was about 2.5 hours from home coming back from a weekend fishing trip. i ended up pushing my truck over a mile on the side of I-5 trying to get to the truck stop so i could get the new one my mom was bringing installed in a safe place. i got about 300 yards from the off ramp and finally a good person seen me and offered to tow me to the truck stop. i had probably 5-6 thousand cars and trucks pass me and it took two hours for a good person to show up. Oh and pushing a truck down the highway with big rigs flying past you at 70 mph and being no more than a foot from them really gets the heart going.

Mine has been pulsating the lights for the last year.....i just bought the duralast one as well to prevent just such a situation.

ha not exactly a nice suprise. I had a 99 Audi A4 that blasted the tensioner pulley on my commute home from work. No power steering, alternator, and got it home on just battery. Had to tear the front end completely open to get to it, and did it outside on a sunday morning at -16 degrees! not too much fun, but I had my good woman prep me a hot chocolate for 20 minute rest intervals.

I had an alternator seize and loose the belt right outside of Girlack on my 6.5 GMC overheated so bad it blew the upper hose clear off.Had to ask my ex wife who would barely talk to me come get me.I think she did not wanting to look like a jerk in front of our kids.

i drove mine for 30 miles home with the light on once...

did i mention i had 2 semi batteries and didn't run anything i didn't have to? lol..
yeah proves for a bad time when you're just hanging out on the side of the road.. and not a fix if you don't have parts..

Had a friend whos alternator went bad in his expedition while towing a boat down the highway. Ran for a few more miles until the battery died. He swapped in the boat battery, shut off everything electrical he could(luckily it was day time, no need for headlights) and made it to the next town.

that's using your head! i know several people would never think of that.. lol

Had that happen to my '93 once. Drove around town on battery power, at night, with everything electric turned off(including heat) in the middle of winter trying to find a parts shop that had one in stock. Truck died on the side of the road when the battery was too low on juice to even make spark. lol. T'was quite the adventure!
