my truck blew up
overdrive let go, so i dropped it into third, it caught, then let go, i hit second, it grabbed and let go, first, grabbed and let go, then at about 10mph there was an unholy squeal, i killed the engine, and the transmission locked

the engine will not start now, but the starter turns and you can hear it spinning the flex plate

so i either broke the flex plate off of the crank, or snapped the crank, because the front of the engine doesn't turn when i turn the starter

at any point during all this did you ever feel like you should have stopped?

it took about 8 seconds from OD letting go to my finally stopping on the side of the road, so yeah, i stopped.

You could always pull one of the rear plugs and turn it by hand. If the piston moves you didn't break the crank.
