Ok, so after a few months I decided I might just go and find a welder to build me a small roof basket. I only want something to fit down a bit and in between my roof rack. Something about 28 inches long or less. Well today I had an email from a guy I bought some Yakima stuff about a 1 1/2 years ago. He had some brand new brackets and extras for Yakima. He told me about the Yakima Basketcase. It is right at 26.5 inches log and you can turn it either way when you mount it on the bars. They are like $89-99.00. I thought that was a good price. He is getting me one this week. This is what it looks like:

That's what I have been trying to find for my truck. The basket is not a must but a plus.

Anyone know or has tried to install the roof rack from a Fronteir?

If I bought the Load Warrior or the NIB Coleman I was looking at a few months ago on Ebay or any of the other neat baskets I have also seen near me on Craigslist I would have to remove the basket just to park in the garage and the re-mount the basket after I pulled out of the garage. If I did not have such a tall Ranger I would not have to worry about it. This is the perfect size for my needs. Now I can just keep it mounted. I never thought Yakima would have the size I was looking for for the past 4 months!!!! lol

As for the Frontier roof rack I bought one brand new on Ebay about two years ago. I was going to take it to a fab shop and have it cut down to fit my 99 Ranger. Then I was going to have it powder coated a silver color to match my bed extender and put some custom made decals that said 'Ranger' across it like the way Nissan Frontier has their logo across the bars. I thought that was going to look cool.
At least I thought it was gong to be a neat Idea. Two of my buddies talked me out of it since I would have to drill into my roof to mount the mounting kit and use sealer to keep any water from getting it and this could cause some serious leaks later as well. So...there went that Idea. I sold the Frontier roof rack last year on Ebay for what I paid for it...$100.00 + shipping.
