im just wondering whats the difference between the ranger coil and leaf springs than xj coil and leaf springs im just wondering cause im looking to put 9" xj coils in front of my 92 ranger and put like 11" leaf in back im just curious cause it dont look any different really :icon_confused:

xj coils are far far softer than TTB coils if thats what you are asking. you will not net 9 inches of lift from the xj coils. i believe they are around 240 ppi.

Correct. Ranger TTB coils are in the neighborhood of 375-500PPI depending on body/engine configurations.

XJ coils are more in the 220-240PPI range.

You're aware more is needed than just sticking bigger springs under there to lift it up higher correct? (especially when using softer coils such as the XJ's)?

i compared my friends xj coils to my ranger coils and the xj ones are wider.

This is from the exp I have with getting both the coils and the leafs off the xj. The coils are way to soft to hold the weight of the RBV. If you did get them in there they just drop under the wheight of the ranger. and the rear leafs are to short.

Were those the stock springs?

k so wat coil and leafs would work so i can get some serious ride height

it depends on what model/motor combo you have. the rangers dont handle too well after 6 inches of lift anyway. a 6 inch kit with a 3 inch body lift is your best bet if you want your ranger up in the air. for the rear do 4 inch lift springs and belltech 6400 shackles to match the front. if you want more height than that you'll want to SAS it to keep the handling on road stable.

k. all this talk bout coils n stuf. wat u gonna do bout drop brkts? or have u thot of that? cant jus slap coils on and call her sally

Sorry couldn't help myself. Huge pet peeve of mine is the text typing.

What I meant to say was that in order to lift your Ranger you are gonna need more than just a set of coils and leaves. Beam drop brackets and radius arm brackets or longer arms are a must. As was said, 6" is about the max you can go unless you go to a solid axle swap. Also when running a softer rate spring your steering will have to be addressed. It needs to be anyway but you can get away with it if you run the stiffer RBV springs. If memory serves me correctly, the XJ rear leaves are offest to the front by quite a bit. That would be a no go on the ranger unless you wanted to run a flatbed and shorten your wheelbase.

For your "serious ride height" a SAS is the only option.

Oh wait, there is that godawful 8" TTB lift and throw a 3" BL on that and you can cruise the mall with 11" of lift and 35s on that 28.

I have 6" lift xj coils in my Bronco 2 with a dana30 sas. I think in need a stiffer fron coil. Too much body roll on the trail. What do you recommend ?

A sway bar and better shocks.

Shocks are rancho 5000's. Whats about f150 coils? What size lift would I need?

I have an explorer sway bar with custom disconnects up front. I disconnect it when wheeling. Do u mean rear sway bar? What shocks do u recommend?
