WTH is this "SOLENOID" for?! A little QUICK HELP please?!

Do you have EVTMs for either vehicle yet? Trying to do this by asking the forum every time you have a question isn't going to go well.

I'm not trying to be a smartass or ANYTHING "Stmitch", but yes, I have the "simplified version" of the wiring diagram for a "standard" T-bird Coupe, the LA3 Ford Documented (wire color coded and ALL) wiring diagram, and last but not least, I have my 97 8pLUG Motors Diagram....

★★★ = MONEY + REP! JUST FOR READING A SCHEMATIC AND HELPING ME FIGURE THIS OUT! CHECK BELOW!!! V V V

PLEASE REMEMBER - were ONLY dealing with the LA3 wiring harness right NOW, just trying to figure out wtf this thing does or if it can just be deleted?!

*AGAIN, I'M NOT TRYING TO BE A SMARTASS, BUT THIS IS HOW I WAS ABLE TO DELETE WHAT I COULD! BY THESE SCHEMATICS AND LOOKING AT THE DONOR CAR (STRIPPED, PARTED, SCRAPPED AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO LOOK THREW!*

★★★If YOU can find wth it is in this wiring diagram or ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER!!!! Matter of fact, if someone helps me pinpoint it, ill give you that "REP POWER" AND I'LL ALSO WIRE YOU $5 VIA PAYPAL!!!!!!!!!!!★★★

HERE GOES NOTHING ON THE PICTURES OF "THE 2 ELECTRICAL PLUGS" (ONE OF THEM IS GROUNDED TO THE ACTUAL MOUNT FOR THE "WHATEVER" SOLENOIDS???). I'm only posting them again incase anyone didnt see them originally or just have ZERO clue as to what im even talking avout - its ONLY to refreshen the memory. They're nowhere to be found, unless I'm just COMPLETELY looking over it?! It SHOULD be in THESE DIAGRAMS, as the harness, VAM, injectors and EVERYTHING are from a 87-88 T-Bird Turbo Coupe (the one with the STOCK 200HP!) I FINALLY got me a motor to rebuid, and though its not an 87-88, shes been built like one! All the way to the ITI Turbo and 35LB "Brown Top" Injectors. The motor was ORIGINALLY built for either a '83 SVO/T-Bird! AFTER THE "REFRESHING YOUR MINDS? FOLLOWED BY THE diagrams!

"Standard Turbo Coupe"

ENTIRE "FORD 87-88 TURBO COUPE LA3" - with color pinouts!

seriously? No one on this forum knows what this is?! EVEN WITH all the "turbo guys"?!

Hell, I've even offered money!!! Lol!

I'm not familiar with 2.3 turbo's or emissions systems. But....
It's hard to tell colors properly from photos, but it looks to me that the one plug on the right in the first pic has a yel/red and a black/wh. That seems to correspond to the knock sensor in your second diagram. The other plug is a little less clear as a stripe might not be showing. It kind of looks like there is a one way vacuum valve connected in there somehow, that is the blue piece with a hose on both ends. the plug looks like one red and one yellow wire, which would indicate egr solenoid according to your diagram. All this info I gathered by looking at the info that you provided. Perhaps you could look a little closer at your own info for answers. You might also be looking for confirmation for your own observations, and in that case it would sound better if you say that up front.

I know what it's like to be in the middle of a job and want answers right away, but that's not how it works most times.
Not everybody is on 24/7, give them a chance to see your posts. I realize that it's hard not to believe that someone wouldn't see and answer right away, but sometimes it takes awhile for the right person to see your post, maybe even two or three days or more.
Good luck,

Richard

I understand Rich... I really do . Please understand, I'm just trying to finish up this wiring harness and I STILL cant figure THIS LAST THING OUT! It's EXTREMELY frustrating, to say the VERY LEAST! Especially since I could find EVERYTHING else, except these two "things"!!

That said, I did however see that those two "same" (hard as HELL to tell the EXACT wire color, due to it fading over the years) wire COLORS go to the knock sensor - trust me, ive looked at the diagrams 100x's over again! But if its indeed just an EGR Solenoid.... I can delete it right? Since I blocked it off on the intake manifold???? PLUS the knock sensor will not be ran AT ALL!

Here is a thought, just a thought mind you.

Put it in, hook it all up except those two solenoid, and then run a self test. If you leave them unplugged and they do something it will set circuit codes. Those codes will tell you what they are for.

How will I know if it sets a "circuit code"....???

I mean, I'm pretty POSITIVE it will run without it and I'm sure I have MORE than enough sensors connected for it to run in "closed loop", instead of staying "open" and maxing my damn 35lb injectors and Walbro fuel pump! :P

But then again, not POSITIVE and thats what i would LOVE to be!

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY "TURBO RANGER FORUM" WON'T LET ME POST ANYWHERE?

All I've ever done there is register, introduce myself on the "Introduce Yourself" BS and then looked around for a little bit....???

I don't see any posts in the "Introduce yourself BS" on TRF from you, or anybody doing what you are. At least in the last 6 months. Are you sure you're registered there? :icon_confused:

This is the place you're trying to post?: http://www.turborangerforums.com/index.php

Yes. That's the site I'm on!

And what YOU'RE sayin, is what I'M saying...! Lol...

... It won't even let me post! Not a reply, not a new thread in the introduce yourself stuff, I CAN ONLY send MESSAGES!

I sent one to an Admin trying to resolve it.... No replies yet. I would REALLY like to become a member there, as WELL AS TurboFord but neither will let me!!!

WHY?! WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!?! :bawling:

***ONLY REASON I'M POSTING THIS FIND IS BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE SEEMED TO BE ABLE TO TELL ME AND I KNOW SOMEONE MAY HAVE (OR HAVE HAD) THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. THIS THREAD CAN BE "CLOSED" AFTER THIS, AS I MYSELF, HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!!! I'M JUST TRYING TO HELP THE COMMUNITY OVER HERE AT TRS!***

OK fellow "Rangerer's"... ESPECIALLY the wannabe Turbo guys that use the stock LA3 and don't want to go with a Stinger Setup and spend OUTRAGEOUS amounts of money like me........... YET!!! LOL! I'm just piggybacking off of my ORIGINAL wiring, to run the LA3 as if it was still "stock" in a Turbo Coupe.

I've ONCE AND FOR ALL figured out these two NON-USED "Solenoids" for MY setup! Finally.

After speaking with my "Guru", Chris, we've came to a conclusion... and here it goes!!!

Ready?????
GOOD!

First... let me show you the "thing(s)" I was talking about, the wire colors and so forth. Be sure to look closely at wire colors and the way it is "setup", per say....

This looks to be a Purple or Black wire, with either a green, yellow or white stripe on it. Along with another wire, that looks to be either a faded white wire with a red stripe, or possibly yellow with a pink... Hell, ONLY GOD KNOWS!!! (and me - hehe!)

Plug number two on this BS OBVIOUSLY has a PURE RED and PURE YELLOW wire... shouldn't be too hard to find! So I did....

NOW, lets take a look at these CRAZY, CRAZY wiring diagrams for the LA3... ALL the "goodies" that came WITH the 87-88 T-Bird have pretty much been ripped out, no A/C either! So, you can pretty much take the two wiring schematics I'm about to post and "visually" delete out any "Ride Control", "Boost Control", Knock Sensor Stuff.... etc, etc...... A LOT WAS CUT OUT, ONLY THINGS LEFT ARE WHAT I NEED!!!

NOW, with those seen and everything.... can you find it?! No one else could for some odd reason. After I DUG INTO the wiring harness again and looked AGAIN, it ALL MADE COMPLETE SENSE!!! Believe it or not, I was correct on my assumption that I posted previously....

THAT'S THEM ^^^^^^!!!!!!!!

Now, one is the "EGR Control Solenoid" (my EGR is blocked off, so I can COMPLETELY delete that out of the mix (THIS IS THE RED AND YELLOW WIRED PLUG)! I'm not sure if I need to put a resistor in it's place, but I left enough wire for both in the "wrap up" of everything in case something needs to go back in or something. DOUBTFUL! Here it is...

NOW, the OTHER one is EITHER a "Converter Clutch Override Solenoid", which it SHOULDN'T HAVE due to it being a 5 Speed and NOT an Auto!!! So THAT can be deleted as well, for MY application.

It could ALSO be a "Boost Control Solenoid"... and AGAIN, this is NOT going to be used in my setup!!!! I will be using my OWN setup to flip from 10ish-20ish PSI, on the fly....

SO THATS THAT!!!! Here's the OTHER "unknown" solenoid!!! LOL! Not really...

HERE'S YOUR (MY!!!!) RIPPED OUT SOLENOIDS!!!!!

I LEFT THE RED WIRE, SHRINK WRAPPED AND CAPPED OFF, SO THAT I HAVE A "SPARE" "PWR" JUST HANGING AROUND, READY TO BE TAPPED IF NEED BE! EVERYTHING ELSE WAS CUT BACK, SHRINK WRAPPED AND TAPED UP!

Here it is and NO, THAT'S NOT THE SAME YELLOW WIRE!!! IT'S FOR SOMETHING ELSE, AS YOU WILL SEE!

FRICKIN' DONE WITH THAT BS!!!! THANK GOD!!!!!

ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS, please post away! But I think I've FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!

I really don't know squat about these motors and I hope you're right, but...I still stand by my original observation;
it looks to me that the one plug on the right in the first pic has a yel/red and a black/wh. That seems to correspond to the knock sensor in your second diagram.
and
the plug looks like one red and one yellow wire, which would indicate egr solenoid according to your diagram.

Even if I'm wrong on the first, and I don't think I am, I'm at least half right with the second.
In any case....
good luck and keep the pics coming.

The ONE is MOST definitely the EGR solenoid, the one with the SOLID RED & YELLOW WIRES, no questions about it!

The other, whether related to boost control, knock sensor, or that OTHER "thing" I mentioned, can be deleted too! As the knock sensor is deleted from the intake manifold. YES, THE INTAKE MANIFOLD! Lol... :headbang:
