Well, we've always thought about lifting my friends 1989 Mazda 323 hatchback and puttin on some decently bigger meats and takin it to the sand, but I've just never seen a lifted Subby. It's growing on me...

There's a car like that at a pawnshop shop in my area, the somehow got it bumper to bumper between the 2 post for the pawnshop sign (I Think they built the sign around the car)

Its sure dose get your attention.

this one is a little beat up, but i snapped some shots of it at Wicked Big Meet this year:

i think i might have to sell my ranger and just buy that lmao

If I go Subaru, I'll get the Baja. AWD, turbo H4 boxer engine, 4doors, and still has a bed to haul few of the little things in life.

I've seen a few Scoobydoos like that around here. I had one for a yard car when I worked at a wrecking yard. It was more durable than i thought it would be. Ski bums like 'em too.

If you don't mind a 2 door ride, I would go with a brat.

I am a subaru nut, and had only owned Subaru's til I bought my Ranger, and I have always wanted a lifted wagon. Unfortunately, out of the 7 I previously owned, 0 still run and drive.

1987 PT4WD 3spd auto GL Carb'd Wagon - Hand me down. Ran like poop, no power, weird mid-rpm hesitation, and wouldn't pass IM. It also need a new transmission (Stupid me put different size tires on it and didn't notice) and didn't feel like fixing it. The 3spd auto Subaru makes really sucks. It just doesnt feel right to be doing 4k rpm down the highway just to hit 65mph. (Parted out)

1988 PT4WD 5spd Single Range Manual GL Turbo Wagon - Paid $1400, currently starts and will drive, it just bucks like PBR bull after 2500rpm or under a heavy load. I should take it to get looked at. (Parked in the driveway)

1989 FT4WD 4spd auto GL-10 Touring Turbo Wagon - Bought it off eBay for $1500-$1600, sight unseen, flew to Newark, NJ, cought a Devils game, and then drove it 5000+ miles back to Alaska. It died the next day. Turned out to be a bad ECT causing it to run way to rich when it warmed up, leading it to run like crap and eventually die. $5 fix that took me a week to figure out. The only one of my Ru's that runs well, but it won't pass IM due to an exhaust leak, and the running gear (break calipers, rotors, etc.) is all so rusted it needs to be replaced. I think it was parked in a field for a while before I bought it. (Parked at grandparents cabin)

1987 PT4WD 3spd Auto GL-10 Turbo Wagon - Paid $500 for it, knew there were problems, oil pump gave up the ghost, and the engine seized on the way to work one morning. (Parted out)

1988 FT4WD 5spd FT Manual XT6 w/locking center Diff. - Paid $2000. Nice body, but 3 months later the oil pump died on the way to work one morning (deja vu) and it was just as cheap to get a new one as to fix it. That seems to be the problem with me and these cars, one breaks, I buy a new one. (Sitting at my grandparents cabin)

1988 FT4WD 4spd Auto XT6 - Bought it because of the low mileage (56k) and 4spd auto (sooooo much better than the 3spd). Ran well for about 6 months, then the developed a MAJOR oil leak on the way home from work in mid-september. I was watching the oil pressure needle fall in front my eyes. Took 4 quarts to top it off, and it was off the stick again in ~10 miles. Took it to a shop, not worth fixing. (Still sitting at shop.)

1988 2WD 4spd Auto XT6 - Paid a whopping $100. Body sucks, engine cant hold oil (It's like a subaru trademark, you only worry when they STOP leaking), and now it's sitting in the driveway waiting to be parted out.

On The Way (Just agreed to buy):

1989 5spd Dual Range Manual GL Touring Wagon - $1500. Flying down to Oregon with the GF to visit her family and drive the car back up to AK.

Here are a couple of threads with lifted subes at another message board I frequent.

Lifted Rigs - 2006

Lifted Rigs - 2007

And just a reminder, they are CARS, even if the Brat/Baja don't think so. Comparing them to our trucks is an apples and oranges kind of thing.

There are a number of those around here. A while ago I was watching some guys hit a trail and they were totally stoked about getting their 4" lifts and 28" swampers, lol. I think there's one with about 11" of lift running around.
