wtf..im about to give up on this thing

but if theres water in there then why did it run all beforee..a hour when i get back...and all the way back from the trail it stayed running.now it wont even start.u think thats water in the motor?

lol..i have the worst headache and this truck casued it.got stuck for 2 hours on the trail todayt maf last week and now this crap..well if she keeps it up we arent celebrating her birthday..and thats final!

did you check the air filter element itself? i was wheeling once, hit a water hole and got water up into the filter box that soaked the element and made it run like poop, much as you described...

yea it was a little wet but not soking..i did all this testing with no filter so i dont beleive that is the problem

So what is the battery voltage at when it is sitting for a while? It should show something close to 12.8V. And what is it at when the engine is running? It should show something like 14.5V.

to be honest wih ya man i dont have a voltmeter at my house i at my work..when it was running the voltmeter on the car it was running at tliek the n or the o in the normal range..so pretty low..when we were driving it dropped eown below that aswell once.so what does this mean?i charged the battery for a 15 minutes and it didnt make a diffrence ,the voltage went up to the r in normal.but went down over time when runing

i think that the batter problem is the alterantor and the engine running problem is somethign totally seperate..does that sounds possible

No. As clueless said, the computer needs full voltage to run. 15 minutes charging does nothing. You need a voltmeter. You don't need injectors. You can't do a single bit of EFI troubleshooting unless you know your computer is getting full voltage.

sowhat do u suggest..we know at idle the battery voltage is waaaaay to low..has to be alternator
right?
thanks

Take your altenator into your local parts store, they can test it for you. These people are telling you what to look for. If your altanator is good, make sure your belt is good and not slipping, check for poor ground connections, check for water or corrosion in wiring harnes.
You need 14.5 volts running. (If you don't have meter get one).
You blame the truck for problems, If your going to play in water holes expect problems, Electical, water in engine(seized), water in differentails, transmissions, and broken parts because you run over something you cannot see.
WOW! sorry for my rant.

Sounds like ground problems to me. Check all your grounds.
Battery to Frame
Battery/Frame to Starter mount bolt
Drivers side head to Firewall/Wiper motor mount bolt

If your ground cable has a little green corrosion in the end, I usually goes all throughout the cable. If so just replace it. They are cheap.

if you don't have the tools, Take your alternator somewhere to get tested. Most shops and major autoparts stores have the equipment to test them.:icon_thumby:

ok guys so i have come to the conclusion that i think it has to be the alternator.the only thing though is that the battery has yet to die i let it run for a decent amount of time and the battery never died?

What's a decent amount of time? Most batterys have a decent reserve capacity.
I drove my truck for with the alternator not working. It was night my headlights were on and my stereo (2 amps) was all the way up. It took an hour for my battery to die. But i do have an Interstate not some junk battery.

I'm not one to just throw parts into a truck. You need to verify that your alternator is the culprit here. Have that thing tested. A new alt is around $130, not the kind of money you wanna throw away on a feeling...

I can tell already its the crank shaft sensor a lot of people go mudding such as myself and come back with moisture or dirt on it... wipe it off really well then go to radio shack and get some wire sealant. put a decent coat on it. Let me know if it solves the problem... but your car wont run without that sensor and if its got mud all over it then there's your problem.
