Hey guys, I just got on as an examiner at this web site, examiner.com.

I thought everyone here would like to read my article. It's got a lot to do with a lot of people here. Plus there's a picture or two of a Ford, :D

Here is the link, http://www.examiner.com/x-16884-Miami-Auto-Industry-Examiner~y2009m7d23-Cash-4-Clunkers-What-truck-can-I-get

Read, enjoy, and pass on to friends if you want. :icon_cheers:

Constructive criticism is welcome as is diverging opinions. :icon_thumby:

Oh and if anyone else is a good writer and wants to get a side job on the site let me know. I can refer you to speed up the process, PM me if so.

Thanks guys! :icon_bounceblue:

Good article, but the Equator has dashing looks? It looks terrible, like most trucks today. I'd say the only truly good looking truck today is the Ranger. Thanks to not being revised much it doesn't look like it's eaten steroids by the truck load. The F-150 and SuperDutys looked pretty good before their last change, but now they have retarded looking grills.

Well, first, I was lost a lot of the time reading that. It's obviously part of something else and not a stand-alone article. And it needs an editor because it was difficult to muscle through.

That aside, you are suggesting that crushing our current trucks is okay because there are newer, similar trucks that get good enough mileage to allow it? I'm a little lost I think. But if your article is suggesting that we will benefit from crushing our trucks, you won't get a lot of support here.

Matter of fact--why not just tell us in three sentences what that was about?

Sorry, i'm just now starting to get the hang of writing articles(I need to revamp my skills), I know I need an editor :D....

I understand most people on the forum won't trash their Rangers, I'm just saying for the ones that have given up hope for some of their trucks due to whatever, can gain a little bit of ground.

The previous articles spoke about rules and guidelines to Cash 4 Clunkers and what passenger cars people can upgrade to.

This article was simply outlining the possible trucks that qualify, it was mostly just informative.

I know a lot of people dislike the program, but it's here for a certain amount of time or until funds run out, so you might as well take advantage if you are in the market for a new car. I mean, if you've given up on your project ranger which is worth nothing on the used market, you have an opportunity to get a new one. With current incentives plus this $4500, you can get a new truck for under $8000. :shok:

Oh and i edited it a little bit, I see A LOT of mistakes, gotta practice more, gotta make sure i keep it in present tense too.

You can check back to see some corrections.

Um, no. Dislike is a serious understatement. I will never support this program for several reasons. First, it was paid for with MY tax dollars (want to buy your neighbor a car?) Second, I can't afford a new car at any price, especially since the cost of new cars just went up a minimum of $3500. So that $10,000 car you were looking at now costs $13,500. All you're doing by supporting this program is adding a minimum of $3500 to your dealer's profit margin and giving your old car away for free.

You need to look at cash for clunkers a little closer because it's really not about getting polluters off the road and reducing our dependence on oil. It's just another bailout in disguise.

so bascially you want us to gave up are trucks for a new clunker ha yeah right i keep my truck i hate new one i like the look of my 90

i guess chrysler has a thing were they will match the price of your car if you get the 4,500 for your vehivle chrysler with throw in another 4500 so thats 9,000 off of a new car might be something to look into but i dont understand how it works like the 18 mpg thing do you have to get under 18 mpgs to get the money or is it over the 18 mpgs i get 20 mpg in my 1994 b3000 4x4, manual, 3.0 and 3.73 gears with 235/75R15 tires so im good with keeping my clunker. also do they go by what your vehicle should get or what it does get because if its what you engine gets when you drive you can destroy gas milage just put old plugs and wires in and beat the hell out of the thing go into the dealership and be like umm i get 14 mpg give me money

What to bring to the Dealer to qualify:

* 1 Year Proof of Insurance. If your insurance card does not cover the entire year preceding the trade in, you will need other proof of insurance. Contact your insurance company to get evidence of 1 year worth of insurance. The form must include, at a minimum, the insurance company, policy number, VIN, start and end date of insurance (showing at least 1 year).
* Proof of Registration going back at least 1 year.
* “Clear” title. This means the title must be free of any liens or other encumbrances. If you have liens, you need to get these cleared before going to the dealer. This may include evidence on the face of the title showing no lien; that the title has been cleared (signed and stamped accordingly), or with an attached lien release from the lien holder.
* The vehicle manufacturer date found on the driver’s door or door jamb is less than 25 years old when you trade it in.

If you do not have any of the above items in your possession, you may do the following:

* Call your insurance company and have them provide evidence of 1 year’s worth of insurance on the trade-in vehicle. Make sure it includes the minimum requirements noted above.
* Contact your DMV for copies of prior registration certificates to show proof of ownership of the trade-in vehicle for at least the past year. The name on the registration must be the same as the name on the title and the same as the purchaser of the new vehicle.
* Clear your title by paying-off any loans outstanding and receive either a newly issued title from the DMV that is free of all liens and other encumbrances, or have the lien release document from the lien holder (signed and stamped accordingly), or your title signed and stamped accordingly (showing it is clear)

Once you are at the dealer you will be asked to certify to the following under penalty of law. The above documents will provide proof to the dealer to assist in this certification process.

* The trade-in is in drivable condition.
* You are the registered owner, and have been for the least the last year.
* The trade-in has been continuously insured for the last year.
* The trade-in is titled in your name and has been for the last year.
* You have not previously participated in the CARS program.

I actually explained that as well as I could in this article, it was my first introductory article....

Check it out, I basically explained what the above post said, but I added a little bit of detail. :D

The dealership doesn't get a dime out of it (aside from the new vehicle sale of course) The trade in is eventually crushed, the dealership blows up the engine (with a 60/40 mix of water and stop leak in place of oil runs it at a certain RPM for a certain amount of time, shut it off and let it sit, if it starts again repeat until it won't start) and it then sits until it gets hauled off to the crusher.

Personally it is kind of a neat idea, but I don't see how they can pay for it. I also wonder how many possible future collectable cars are going to get blown up and crushed. If they did this in the late 70's and early 80's they would be hauling off blown up big block muscle cars by the truckload... which is a sad thought. :shok:

i payed 4000.00 for my ranger and will never ever ever go gm again . if my ranger goes im gona get a used turbo superduty maybe ..

even if a new chevy truck was 5000.00 i still would not buy it

why would you blow up a engine to junk it !!!! they should hold midnight betting demos behind the car dealer ships .. econoline vans- verses -geo trackers.. hey rick wagner said any gm was bullet proof... like 6 months before he was fired.
