have 86 b2 2.9. has a 15 gal tank instead of the 27 it should have, fuel level not working, have new sending unit for a 27gal tank, will the readings be off if i use the 27gal sending unit in the 15 gal tank? i think the 15 is out of a ranger...thanks for your help.

It depends on the depth of the tank i would think the 27 galon tank would be deeper than the 15. would be suprised if the pump would even fit.

How do you know this is a 15 gallon tank? The Ranger mid-ship tank is the wrong shape to fit a Bronco II. The Ranger Auxiliary tank was only 13 gallons and had the filler in the wrong spot to fit properly.

Pics would be helpful.

The B2 tanks are 23 gallons from what I've found. A larger tank would be nice but then the fill-up cost just gets higher LOL. I don't think either tank from a ranger would work on the B2's, and neither ranger tanks are 27 gallons. The front tank in my 84 Ranger was 17 gallons, the back tank was 15 gallons.

been driving it for 2 wks now(from a fill up) and doing the "dip stick" check thru the vent/breather hole, had a few gals left when i filled up, took almost 14 gals so maybe a 17 gal tank not sure but sure it is not 23 gal. sorry, original post said 27, mean 23...so the rear ranger tank is not the same shape as the b2??? maybe the remaining fuel in the tank was around 9 gals??? sure didn't look like 9 gals but i guess i could be wrong...

I'm wondering if your measuring is accurate. Maybe best way is to carry a couple gallons in a can and let it run out, if you think the tank is small. I tend to agree that the shape of a Ranger tank is wrong.
