Wrecked the sport!

how bad is it?

first- is everyone ok?

second- whos fault is it?

This is the part where he comes back and says the Quest was destroyed--dead to the last molecule--and that he needs to stop on his way home from work to buy a 97cent rattle can at Walmart to touch up his bumper.

Close! My rear plastic bumper trim is semi shredded. The Oxford white metal rear bumper has a silver dollar sized black scuff(didnt yet determine if its missing paint or not in that spot). The Nissan Quest lost its passenger front bumper and the passenger fender is slightly bent at the bracket.

Heres what happened. On my way to the house after a 10 hour workday I decide to stop at mikey D's for the $1 large sweet tea. The stupid Mcsemi was partially blocking the drivethru entrance. I manuevered around it but had to straighten out on reverse to the ordering menu thingy. I put it in reverse and the nissan pulls around the semi. as soon as I saw her I hit my brake and she hit hers. We collided at maybe 5 mph yet there was about $500 of damage. We exchanged insurance and telephone numbers. She totally thinks its her fault although she did not say that out loud she kept asking how concerned I am about my bumper. I told her, "Right now,Im not too concerned about the damage to my bumper". All her lights still work but the plastic headlight cover is trash and the corner assembly. I told her I would like to figure this out without involving insurance if possible. I am upset about my bumper but would rather live with it since its only cosmetic damage and not worth increasing insurance premiums. I have I feeling I will never here from her again. I talked to my aunt who owns a major insurance company and her husband who has been a police officer for 20+ years. Both are telling me "No Fault". Really she shouldnt have torn around the corner that fast however I should have had a better break reflex. I kinda froze up without hitting the brake for a split second and that probably could of stopped me from wrecking. I never admitted fault however I did make sure all her lights work. I think the way I threw my truck in park and ran to her window she thought I was gonna beat her at first so she was damn near catatonic at first. Insurance hasn't been called on either side however if she decided to try to **** me I will start to "feel like" I need a new oxford white sport bumper for a stepside.

Could Mcdonalds end up being responsible? Not that Im like that but curious
Am I the first person to ever get in an accident in a drivethru?

good to hear your ok man

And the truck still is too. Im just quite depressed over the bumper. Every other mark on the truck happened in the line of duty at work. This one didnt happen that way and it depresses me sooo much. Also Im super paranoid on the road now. If I lost this truck I don't know what I would do. This ranger is the little truck that could man. Im gonna get a little 4x6 utility trailer to make up for the stepside and give me a loading ramp for all my real heavy shit. Should I buy a reciever hitch or bumper tow? Anyway back to the point, I love my little old Ranger man. If I damage my 2003 chevy Im indifferent. Hell I used to jump my honda accord in the field. This truck is just special to me because it has never ever let me down even though Im not super nice to it.

buy the receiver hitch, it may be more than you need for the useage, but thats better than needing more than the step bumper and having a issue because of it. and in the winter you can run a pintle hook to ward off tailgaters and save your bumper from parking lot damage due to people that cant judge distance when they pull in behind you.

Well atleast your alright. I'd let it go. It's a truck. Buddy of mine had some dude scrape his bumper pretty bad, but it wasn't to awful. He just let em off. Sometimes folks need a break. Good karma never hurts.

+1 i agree...once i side swiped a guy in an old beat up car with my bosses work van designated for me....i pulled over on the highway and flagged him over. While i was waiting for him to pull up i was able to rub all the paint that had come off his car and rubbed onto my van with my hand with no dent, he pulled up and i did the same to his car...i sent him 10 bucks in the mail for some wax and he was as happy as can be. Sounds like she has some more damage than you so unless she is thinking its her fault and doesn't want to claim maybe she would claim? What happens if she claims but you dont?

I was backing out of a parking spot at school and turned too quickly into the side of a 95 Del Sol. My Ranger still bares that mini scar on the plastic part of the bumper (just a scrape not even enough for a band-aid) and the whole front fender of that del sol was fried!!!!! I love my american truck!...

My girlfriend was rear ended the other day by a tow truck in her 95 saturn. But all it did was crack the plastic across the back (without managing to hit the tail lights) and crinkle the trunk lid up a little so I pushed the crinkle out, and it still closed... Better than before. now to replace the scuffed bumper and plastic fake tail light thingys...

its illegal to have a hitch in if your not towing, at least in some states. I remeber reading a thread about it on here sometime
