Found a mk3 1987 Toyota supra for sale. Looks a little rough but doesn't look molested. Supposedly just rebuilt engine/tranny with spec stage 1 clutch. All less than 300 miles. Lost his job I guess . Its a 7mgte with 5 speed. Wants 2000 but it doesn't have an axhaust on it. Says exhaust come off the Turbo and goes a bit further. But is loud if u get on it. Also it need new tires. Says the 3 hold air but the one has a visible hole. Not worried about tires tho. But I do have to drive it back from Spokane to lewiston. Few hours. Since its not cold out and if I don't get on it the turbo should be fine?

I don't mind rigs that need some tlc. In fact I like them cuz sooner or later its all new and I know it.

He Guarantees that it'll make it back without a problem. Besides the may pops.

I have 2500 cash and this is what I'm looking for just not sure if I should pass. Alot of these cars are wet sanded. Supposably new this and that. Full of dents blah blah. Any one wanna cruise by and look at it? Lol

Ad says he's asking $2000 and you're holding $2500. Come at him with $1700 cash in hand (money talks), limp it to a tire shop and snag a set of decent used tires and you can roll on back to Lewiston with $500-$600 in your pocket to get it like you want it.

Check the fluids and bring an extra quart or two of oil with you just in case.

Yup, I'd get it if that's what I were looking for.

That's pretty much what I figured id do except ill pick up a used tire here have it mounted there and take enough with me to buy new tires there if it needed. But being from Idaho ill risk the few hundred miles on them tires. . I don't think its something to pass on. But I'm a sorry sucker for lemons. On a plus side. The girl friend will be super mad if I buy this and won't talk to me for a few days. Then ill work on it for a few days so ill get like 10 days of silence. That's worth 2gs alone :P

I need a spare car to drive cuz the truck isn't really DD material. Plus a Turbo for 2g what's not to love?

Ill get rid of that hot air intake.

So its 130 miles that's not far at all. Thought it was way further. Drove may pops way further. I think the tires are just old and dry with sun rot

Sounds like you've got yourself a win - win situation! Good luck with it. Just give it a good once over and "buyer beware". I'm thinking you've got enough mechanical aptitude about you to smell a dog if you get close enough to it :)

Well the guy knows its gotta be driven back. He says besides the tires he would drive it to Florida himself.

Before I leave I'm gonna tell him there's anothwr supra in his area I'm going to look at. (Its wet sanded not stock ) And if he's not straight up with me about the mechanical condition ill just leave. He needa the cash to move. I'm really just hoping that I don't drive all the way there and find its a pile hat I don't want.

So far It seems to be a good deal and I don't smell any shit

The Supra was a nice car. I am partial to over head cam in line 6 engines.

I am a huge fan of Inline 6 engines. Huge supra fan. Uncle had an mk4 when I was young. Always wanted one. Mk3 has always been more in my price range. So I adapted to like it. Now I'm a big fan of mk3 and mk4 supras and wish to own a high performance version of both.

I actually could afford an mk4 but don't like having to work to pay bills. Would rather work to buy toys.

One thing I noticed tho is the engine says Turbo (can't see it) he claims its in good shape. But the rear of the car has no Turbo emblem. Maybe it fell off? Hoping it wasn't a sketch transplant. Pic is pretty bad so can't really tell.

Find out a way to see if it is really an honest Turbo car that someone tried to make into a sleeper by pulling the badges or if it is a put together thing. It may be a good frankincar but down the road it will never be worth the money like a real turbo car. It seems like people that do that kind of thing rarely do a good job though.

I am kinda looking for a DSM (90-91 Laser, Talon or Eclipse) and it is really hard to find a car that is not a hack job. I think that it is an epidemic for most cars of that vintage. I am wanting a clean stock car and those are very few and far between...

I would trailer it rather than mess around getting used tires on the way and driving it home with basically an open turbo. IMO it would be simpler to just get the thing home and then worry about the tires. Granted you have a turbo for a muffler but it will be obsene to drive on the highway. For heat if you have some pipe on it I wouldn't worry about it, they last fine with an elbow and 3-4' of pipe on a tractor and they get ran a lot harder/longer than anything in a car.

He said its factory Turbo since day one. The badge just cracked and fell off. And he said that his buddy was pulling body panels for his own car so he had to find replacement ones that did not match.
