Taking the transmission out of a junker to put in my truck. I don't have tools big enough, and the catalytic converter is in the way to take the cross member out. Since I have another in my other truck, would it be safe to cut the cross member out with a hacksaw? Thats the only thing i have left to do with taking the transmission out.

which cross member are you talking about the radius arm or the transmission cross member?

You don't have to take the radius arm cross member off. the trans xmember has to be removed. How don't you have big enough tools. The nut and the bolt are only like 19mm.

I personally wouldn't cut if off because if the vehicle your putting it in and the bolts are seized you will then have to go find one at the junk yard. Then that's more money that you have to spend.

It's hard to believe that cutting it out with a hack saw is the easy way.Your going to be really pissed by the time you do that.
