Worn Spider Gears?

These are from an 8.8 Explorer LSD. They have this wear pattern on them that is white in color. Would these be okay for a daily driver, or am I asking for trouble?

You can see the white wear on the toe of the teeth. (that black gook is just some grimy gear oil)

Yeah, they're worn... but they don't look too bad. Should do for a DD. I say new clutches and run them.
 
Looks fine....no major signs of spalling.

Run em.

When they go bad they start to chunk apart.

And yea, I already have the rebuild kit, I'll run em and replace them after the 500 mile break in period for the ring+pinion.
 
don't worry about it too much, it's just the tips of the gears which don't get wear until the clutches wear out.

Okay that explains why they have that wear on the tips. The clutches were worn to the metal. :icon_surprised:
