I haven't played in a few months. I was using the Omaha and just got the Pensacola. The Omaha was way faster and had more guns. Took a little while to learn the Pensacola. It is slower but the larger 203 mm main's get me a lot of cit hits. Whats your name on there and I will add you.

Omaha was an awesome ship if handled right, if you didn't keep track of who you are showing your side to it is short lived though. Very fun to whack DD's with. Torps are handy too.

When I went thru Cleveland was the next. It was kind of meh, not bad but not great.

I stalled out on the Pepsicola. Big slow reloading and traversing guns that are not terribly accurate and if you look at it wrong and the thing blows up. They restructured the lineup a few months ago and I think I somehow got to skip around it... no complaints here.

The Helena came out when they revamped the US Cruiser lineup... now that is a mighty fine gunboat. Fifteen 6" runs, excellent rate of fire, good turret traverse and can take a decent beating for a cruiser.

You can turn down the graphics quality which helps a lot.

I will add you. I hated the Pensacola at first. Then I figured out to stay next to bb's. I started doing very well with it. I can't spend money on the game because the payment goes overseas and it gets flagged. I don't feel like getting it cleared through the bank. It probly is a good thing though. I almost spent 50 bux on it one weekend to get a crap ton of doubloons.

I tried that too. Either they would hang back so the enemies would be out of my gun range or go charging in where I would be the quick easy kill. Not effective against the dd’s they attract either.

Whatever my play style is if I have one, we didn’t mesh.

I found that dd's and some cruisers love to torp bb's. I have gotten a lot of kills splitting from them when the crap hits the fan and staying to the side. BB's draw most of the fire from my experience which allows me to duck and run a few km's and fire back. By the way this strategy is only with the Pensacola.

Oh they love to do that.

It is fun to get into a cruiser slugging match with the Pensecola, its guns do hit hard.

For DD's it is kind of like trying to kill a mouse with a shovel. If you hit him he knows it but it takes so long between swings and it is hard to track him as you dodge torps.

Omaha with a gun always ready to fire, good maneuverability and even torps to flush them out of smoke is an awesome DD slayer. I almost like its single gun mounts more so you can walk the fire around rather than all the guns in a turret firing at once like a later ship.

I only engage dd's 7km and under. I have hit them farther out but they were backing up or running a straight line and not paying attention. I stay away for enemy bb's. F that. Too much armor.

I came up on a AFK Nagato with my Omaha once.

One main course of torpedoes, let me get turned around and here is a side dish of... more torpedoes.

And then staying out of secondary range I lit him up with HE until the torpedoes got there.
