Constant large updates were what turned me off of Tanks on xbox. I stopped playing for a long time because I was spending more time in a week updating the game than I was playing the game, and then when they forced the Mercenaries update on the xbox users it started locking the console up every time I try to load it. Too bad my progress doesn't transfer cross platform.

Managed to get in a game last night with craig, despite playing a ship I don't know if I have ever played we did pretty good (and I managed to not do anything too stupid)

After a hiatus between computers I came back and was totally kicking but. Nobody could touch me and it was awesome. Then I noticed the new install defaulted to playing against the computer and not real people.

I am pretty sure, by how easy it seems compared to Tanks, that I am playing against either all, or mostly AI opponents. Also, it wasn't until I hit level 2 or 3 that something unlocked saying I was now allowed to play against other human players.

I am working on the US tech tree.

After the update nothing is really working, BB's are all straddles and cruisers just get wiped off the map... so I went to shooting fish in a barrel with DD's for awhile. Having a lot of fun, I might get brave enough to try co-op sometime.

Lost power, coasted behind smoke and burned the cruiser down with 40 HE rounds.

Yeah, I have noticed things are screwy since the last update too. I have been loading into games super late if using a BB. I got up into the CV section of the tech tree and I've been playing with those a lot.

I've been playing the Halloween mission a lot this weekend because I score more XP faster, and IIRC when the event ends all that gets dumped into your free XP account.

I just got to the Nicholas, got to looking at it and it looked decidedly unAmerican. The bow looked all wrong, usually American DD's have a rather sporty look to them and this one had a kind of third world country look to the bow with the deck clipped off.

Couldn't find anything on a USS Nicholas, goes from a four stacker to a Fletcher with nothing in between so it must be a paper ship. Dig a little more and find this:

Interesting, pretty much to the Farragut like the Phoenix is to the Omaha.

I have not done much with my DDs, they are still at tier 4. I have been playing with the Independence, starting on the Jap tech tree to get their carriers, and grinding away with the Steel Rat, that little thing is a gold mine.

Interesting.

I love the history of it, I bump into things like this that are interesting but would rarely come up otherwise.

The game isn't always accurate but is still neat to see things nobody will ever see again.

I still have yet to get brave enough to play a carrier though...
