Safe to use PB Blaster on hard brake line fittings...?

If I end up replacing the 27-year-old brake bleeder screws, do I put anything on the threads???
No.
The threads have nothing to do with sealing the system. IMO keeping possible contamination away is more important than thread life. And the threads that are in the component won't corrode anyway.

I ask because one of the offerings on AutoZone (Dorman Brake Bleeder Screw 12707) comes with the red dope on da threads...

Interesting.
I did a quick look with that # and didn't see any explanation why there would be thread locker. There must be some use tho. I dont have any idea tho.

Thread size will be either 3/8-24 (whatever 3/8" fine thread is if I picked the wrong number) or 10mm fine thread. That's for most stuff anyway...

On wrench size they're variable, some 10mm, some 7/16" some 11mm (you know, just a hair smaller than 7/16") others 3/8", I seem to have ran into everything over the years...
My '98 was all over the place when I replaced all the brake lines on it.

If you click into the Description, they call it a "speed" bleeder, vs. a "standard" bleeder for the nekkid-threads part... surely they're not charging FIVE TIMES more for a drop (or less) of thread-locker... or is it something the race-track/SCCA crowd "just GOTTA have"...? :icon_confused:

lots of replacement calipers have something on the threads. i don't think its a locker though, maybe some type of "grease" so the bleeder doesn't freeze in place?

Well I hope that only applies to the wrenches and NOT the threads cuz my new "pipes" just arrived and I gotta get re-plumbed and back on the road!

Will do the 3 rubber connector hoses and the main front-to-rear hard line after monsoon season ends and we get to the cooler DRIER season... or someone loans me a garage... with a lift... and bikini+beer girls... :ROFLMAO::beer: ...🤦‍♂️

That makes TONS of sense... but take a peek... looks like NOT grease, but whatever they put on, for instance, the Coolant Temp Sensor, etc.
