Took an 83 ranger down for a Dyno test to see how many horses escaped over the years, we found that he lost 83.798 horse power at 350,xxx miles. How is that even possible? I figured after 70 horses it would just die.

Soooo, 4 cyl? 6cyl?

83 horses? That means he's left with negative hp. What engine?
The little 2.0s had only 80 horses from the factory.

he uses it everyday to go back and forth from work (office job) 100+ miles a day

Was the factory rating at the tires or flywheel?
That will make a HUGE difference.

that leaves him with about 35hp.. sounds more like a 2.8 with only 83 hp left..

Flywheel

and its lost over 80hp, not 85hp left

So you keep telling us how much it lost, what did it actually dyno at?

Not trying to be a dick, but I'm getting skeptical. :icon_cheers:

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....I devised a H.P./Power calculation chart a few months ago....it takes 70 h.p. to make a late-model Ranger go about 45-50 mph with all the smog/dog/efi/fbi stuff bolted to the engine......

so....maybe it's still producing 80 hordes....errrr....horsies....

even if so, wouldnt that make it difficult to carry even a passenger?
