Okay first thing is first. Welcome to TRS. You will find lots of helpful information but in order to do taht we need to understand what are you talking about.

First issue: Truck wont climb. What will it not climb? Does your truck need to downshift to drive up a grade or climb a steep dirt hill?

Second, Get your Check Engine Light (CEL) read and post the codes. That gives us a starting point to why its not running right

Third, Is this a new problem or has it been happening for a while? Also for your temperature. Do you mean it does not reach operating temperature? Or do you think the gauge is broken?

Finally, Clairfy and proof read your posts. It makes it easier for everyone to help.

thanks, i just changed my spark plugs and cables, gas filter, air filter, it's been doing this for a long time but it has gotten worse, it rattles on steep hills, and when i step on it hard.

If it won't climb, you need to open up the access panels and make sure your elevator cables are still connected. Otherwise, you'll just pitch down.

But I'd hope you would do the (mandatory) pre-flight well before you figure out it won't climb. That can get painful....

WTF are you talking about?

where do i get the engine codes? remember i'm new here. thanks!!

Check out the tech library link from Earl43P. Also some auto parts stores have OBD 1 scanners and get you the codes.

thanks a lot, i cleaned up the MAF sensor (it was real dirty) and the rattling stopped i can step on it and it responds really well now, it used to kind of bog, the check engine is still on and will get to that too. anyway thanks for your help!!!

afterburners on!!!!

i meant steep hills, English is not my first language so i probably didn't explain myself well.

my code reader cost 90$ (obd2) if you get one make sure its odb1

buy a code reader . I got one from my work walmart and returned it because it only told me common sence and bought a code reader from ebay for 50$ that tells you everything

i had no idea a ranger could tell you what kinda load it has on it or how much fuel each injector is pushing . it tells you how much your timing changes and how much lots of other uses full and not so usefull things.

shop around and I would say buy one you will save your self from 8 trips to the parts store

hey chad,

Do you have a link to the one you got off ebay. I have a cheap ACTRON reader, but it sounds like yours has quite a bit more going on. and for $50, that sounds reasonable.
