I recently upgraded my Adobe Flash Player because it said it was a better version that used less memory and blah, blah, blah...

It still crashes and chews up most of my RAM when using sites that use the AFP.

I did find, however, that you can allocate more HD space to specific websites by going into the Control Panel and clicking on the AFP icon...once in there the first page has a link to show allocated disk space...and by clicking on that it opens the Adobe website showing your space allocations for each web page.

By using the slider I tried allocating 10 MB of disk space for AFP to use and this improved the performance quite a bit...but it still sucks up quite a bit of RAM...

I do intend to upgrade my RAM to the max some day soon (it has to be identical pairs on this machine) but might try allocating a bit more disk space for it first...

Anyone else have any other suggestions on how to get around this?

unfortunately, AFP is the only game out there right now, (that I know of) and it blows donkey balls. Just keep hoping they fix it someday...

And thanks for the memory tip, I will implement that and see if that helps with my AFP crashes.

Hope it works better for you...but I tried to follow my own instructions to the site and it didn't show up right away...you need to click on the Learn more link for local storage, then it will launch the Adobe site where you can get the help section on the AFP settings manager page...or it might show up as a link to the settings manager...

I found that the AFP still bogs things down so I think the problem with my system is that I just don't have enough RAM...2 gigs used to go a looong way...now it's barely adequate...

:icon_rofl: Wonky.....

I love that word, LOL

LOL...one of my favourite words...I have a friend who had a cat with a nerve disorder that caused it to not be able to walk straight...beautiful little kitty...she didn't name it because she figured it wouldn't live very long...so I called it Wonky...she loved the name too...I was going to adopt it from her but it only lived a few months after I named it...:bawling:

Well, I went out to buy some more RAM at a computer store that is going out of business...but they didn't have my flavour...so instead I bought a switch to go wired...and a wireless mouse...

I just discovered that if you press the scroll button it allows you to scroll with the mouse movement...COOL~! I'm probably showing how much of a noob I really am to new gadgets, but I just found this so amazing...sorta like having a brain transplant and watching your hand move for the first time...:icon_rofl:

Well, I upgraded my ram to 4 GB and the Adobe Crashed Player flashed me the message...

Soooooo...tried Chrome and noticed that it did not use the ACP...but it hung up even worse on some sites...guess I have to upgrade my video...checked the bios and it was using a whopping 8 MB of system ram...and not able to extend it beyond that...

Guess I'll just have to avoid those porno video pages for now...dang...

Well, DOH~!

Here I was trying to play with the settings by going through all kinds of steps when all along the box pops up with a right-click of the mouse...

I am turning in my IT certificates and going to a mountain to meditate on the end of IT all...:annoyed:

Are you A+ certified?

:icon_rofl:

I was...till they read the last post...and Net+...and I have a two diplomas in computer related studies...

But they didn't teach things like always put the parking brake on before raising the vehicle...unless you are jacking up both rear tires...sort of thing...
