Wohlf 16's 99 Ranger build

Didnt realize there had been a couple posts after I put up the last pics. Those worn out swampers did ok for me this weekend. Thanks Kyle for the back up! Took second place at the Hartford fair in class A 4 and 6 cylinder class. Got 260 bux and a trophy. Pit was sloppy as hell! Made it 178 feet 8 inches. Pit was 200 foot long. Only one truck made it out and it was my neighbors tube buggy that he built with a 4 cyl. honda motor mounted rear with yota axles. His mom was driving it and it took her a minute to complete. This is the same neighbor that set up my gears and has the 1000 hp jeep. He ran the same tube buggy and made it 175 feet which put him in third but the same truck cant win twice so it went to the next one. Anyways heres a couple pics of it.

ugh.... I would have passed out.... I hate trying to clean out mud. Looks like you had a blast brother! Congrats on the Trophy as well

hell yeah!

I cant wait for mine to be finished! You've enspired me! i might have passed it up but what springs up front did you use? Is there any more work thats planned for yours? (cage, winch, bumpers....) i cant wait to see more pics. Awesome truck BTW!

WHY DO I LOVE MUDDIN!? I ran the last time with a bad wheel cylinder and went through an entire master cylinder full of fluid in one day of use. Well it got to the place after that it just started runnin out as fast as I could fill it up. Took the drum off to replace the wheel cylinder and check this out.

Im thinkin I need to get rid of drums on the rear if I keep this up. Is there any way to convert my 1978 dana 60 to disk brake setup? Swappin axles is not an option. Ive got about $700 or more in this axle so if I can polish this turd up that would be sweet. Prefer to just snatch stuff up at the junk yard so if you guys know what doner axles would work or if its even possible let me know.

Wow! Thats why I hate mud. To much cleanup afterwards.

Have you looked into a conversion kit for disc brakes? Or maybe a weld on brackets?

:icon_rofl:.............thanks for reminding me why i stay on blacktop....

the ability to love mudding is obviously a gift from God!

Once you get the mud in your veins your screwed! It only took one time and I was hooked!
I was wondering if there were any donor dana 60's that would work for a disk brake swap. If it can be done im defenitely interested. Let me know guys.

Well its mud season again and im back to playin with the ranger. One of these pics is where I got a little to over confident with the water which lead to updates on the ranger. Bet you can guess which one! Its late but wanted to post these pics now. Will post up pics of its newest mods later.

Truck Looks good!! Did the truck take a little to much water in?
How do u like the spartan locker for the rear Dana 60?

yeah she drank a little to much h2o. Shes good to go now tho. The pics of me running were actually after the water sucking incident.
The spartan locker for the rear hasnt failed me yet. Knowing now what the trucks fate is I would have prolly just saved my money and welded it. The locker would definetely be great if your truck sees much road time.
A week from this saturday is the fair so I will just wait til then to post up some pics of what Ive done. Just a straight pipe off the manifold to a single stack out the bed with a flapper. Loud as hell now and hopefully now it will be able to exhale in sticky situations.

If u still looking for rear disc brakes, ruff stuff has a braket that is only around 50bucks and uses chevy rotors and calipers. did it to mine and like it alot better than drums and wont pack up with mud. heres a pic of mine

Very nice! Not sure now if I'm gonna do that now or switch to pinion brakes. Some guys are taking Honda discs and welding it to the pinion yoke and deleting the brakes on all corners. Saves a lot of weight. Next may my plates are due again so that will help me decide which to do. Thanks for the info tho.

Look into 95+(ish) dodge 3/4 ton axles in the junkyard, you should be able to unbolt the brake caliper brackets, calipers and rotors and bolt them onto your axle. Nice truck and saving from the junkyard :icon_thumby:

Thanks svt. That might be a good way to go. Love goin to the junkyard anyway.
Gettin the butterfly's and the race isn't until Saturday. You wouldn't think goin balls to the wall in a straight line would be so exciting but it is. Last year took 2nd place, haven't done much to the truck since then but I'm hopin to do better this year. Let you guys know how it goes and will post up some pics.
