Hey folks.

Whenever I replaced the timing belt, I tried a few different ways, but ultimately, I guess I did not tighten the crank pulley out right and it started walking itself backwards. It never let loose, but I noticed one day the pulley was a little bit wobbly.

Took the bolt off, slobbered it with blue loctite, and tried my best to tighten it down again, darn thing spins at some point no matter how I grip/hold onto the pulley. I remember with my Nissan Z24, I just grabbed a 2x4 and a breaker bar and, ahem, "Impacted" the crank bolt on, but since then I've been told an impact wrench, much less a redneck one, is a nono. First of all, what torque do you all recommend setting to? And how would you all suggest to lock a crankshaft on an automatic transmission?

Also, it runs just a little bit screwy. Nice and smooth and happy at high idle->redline, but at 650, it seems to randomly misfire. Figure I will replace plugs and wires, coil, and clean the MAF, IAC, and the EGR. So ... what plugs do you all recommend? And where do I find the EGR?

Is this the 2.3?

I remember removing the crank pulley on my manual transmission by putting a large screwdriver through one of the holes in the pulley at one point...but I've also heard of people putting the long breaker bar on the frame and cranking the engine...just tapping the starter...disengage the coil wire first because you really don't want it to start...

Woops, yes, this is the 2.3L with the A4LD. I did use that trick to take the bolt off.

Never mind. Chucked the pulley itself up on a lathe - it was bent. That'd explain my wobble.
