Went to breakfast with the wife this morning then off to the Discovery. Discovery is about the closest thing we would have too a Lowes or Home Depot. Anyhow they have a fairly nice automotive accessories department especially for Panama and I always enjoy going there. Finally found an oil filter for my truck Fram ph8a extra guard for $2.98. I know it is Fram but it is the only one I can find. I was looking at some off road driving lights and she started up. Why do you want them so big? These small ones are much cuter. You aren't going to make your truck look all redneck are you? I just gave her that look. Then we found the section with engine paint. There aren't many places here where you can find engine paint and they had a few cans of some Rustoleum so I scored a black one for the exhaust system. Then I wanted a couple cans of naturally Ford blue. Well the only thing they had in Ford blue was tractor paint and it wasn't heat resistant. So I found some Harris engine paint. I picked a dark blue close to a navy. Then she said... I don't like that color. Why do you need to paint the engine anyhow? I am getting well practiced with that look after almost ten years. Next thing she said was.. No one is going to see it. I told her I would and it mattered to me. So then she looked at a lighter blue that I didn't like but she insisted that if I had to paint the engine that was the color. So I got 2 cans of it so she would shut up. Then she asked you aren't going to put one of those horn things on it (snorkel) are you? They are really expensive and ugly and I don't think you need one. Then I really stepped in it and said. It's my truck and I'll do what I want to it. Bad idea. Remember that you can never win an argument with a woman and you are twice doomed if she happens to be a lawyer as well.

Anyhow.... Next time I go to Discovery for truck stuff... I'll call my brother in law.

So your wife is not well endowed then.

Ah. I figured it was some sort of metaphorical envy that she preferred you to get the smaller ones.

So what do you suppose they paint tractor engines with?

On the three I have painted the only place it hasn't held up from heat is the exhaust manifold... and they can glow on a long hard pull in the dark. :icon_thumby:

You navigated well through dangerous waters...next time she goes shopping, go with her and "don't like" a few of the items she picks out...shoes, etc. Works for me and only had to do it once. Mine knows the vehicles are my territory, and leaves me alone with them...but she still checks on me every now and then when I'm wrenching, which is a nice safety feature when you work alone most of the time.

tread carefully, it's cold in the doghouse at this time of the year.

ohhh, here we go again.......It looks like you are an unlucky fella that just can't win-

Remember....concerning women....the day will come when you can no longer "make *points"...............................

you can only LOSE them........

*(Points: saying/doing the right thing to make her happy)

Well yeah she is well endowed but she still didn't like the big offroad lights. :icon_twisted: LOL

Because nobody else was going to do it, I will. Like dirty Harry every dirty job.

:worthless:

do what i did, take your phone and snap some pics of your wifes collection of purses and/or shoes. if you do make the mistake of taking her somewhere like that again and she starts talking, just show her the picture. you dont even have to say anything.

"why do you need another gun?" *shows pic on phone*
"why do you need 500 shotgun shells?" *shows pic on phone*
"why do you need those big tires? *shows pic on phone*

you get the idea

Some good suggestions guys. Lucky for me it doesn't get cold here so the dog house isn't freezing. However it does not have air conditioning which is a necessity. I do like the picture idea and think I'll use it. I am lucky though as they do look in on me when I am wrenching and even bring out a cold beer once in a while. I too do most of my work alone.

Haaa haaaa...great story, LOL. Just remember this...your married...half of yours is hers!!!! My wife don't care what I do with my cars and trucks and bikes or the boats. She loves them all. I just got lucky. 23 years+ of a great marriage.

Believe it or not she went back to Discovery the next day with her mom. I read the post about the tractor paint and sent the cans of Harris back and had her grab 2 cans of the Rustoleum For Blue. She didn't complain a bit except that it was twice the price. LOL

i dont even bother trying to justify my hobbies with my wife. no argument i could make about her absurd collection of purses will ever be enough. it doesnt matter that she can only use one purse at a time and i can use my bronco to drive around and do shit.
