2022... 4x4... 14k miles... bare bones. $31k

This is what my last newish vehicle purchase (I really wanted new not newish) has come to at this point in time.

And... I don't like it.

Kinda sucks though.

When we get done with car seats in the back my need for a crew cab will go away.

Temporarily. You’ll blink a couple times and in your backseat there will be a 6’+ gangly teenager. That’s what happened to us anyway.

I think you can get Ford and Ram crew cabs with the 6.5’ bed right? I know the 4th gen Rams were available that way but I wasn’t able to find one when the time was right to offload my other one.

I stopped buying "new" after 1994, and since haven't owned anything '95 and up. And it liked to have killed me, to pony up 12k for that last new '94 XLT 2.3/5 speed manual SuperCab. It blows my mind what vehicles cost now, new and used.

A pickup is a truck, and it should have a long box.

If you want extra cab room, get an Explorer.

Damn, I miss things not being simple anymore . . .

Not too far into the past, a stripped down truck would have been $10-15k new off the lot.

Probably longer ago than you think...

I did buy a brand new std cab long box f150 4x4 online 6 manual trans and added A/C. $14k in 94.

A new bare bones F150 V6 with a 5sp in 08 was like 17k. I priced them

Intersting comparison of F-150's base MSRP at the time and adjusted for inflation.

Id be curious to see the percent increase of the MSRP vs inflation rates...to see if it outpaced it.

That article is a bit iffy though. It alludes the current 5.0 is the same as the old 5.0, and states crewcab 1/2 tons started in 80

Apparently not many people want 8' beds any more - for 2024, the only way you can get an 8' bed is with a single cab on the F-150, the extended cab only comes with 6.5' bed now...

That always seemed to be a pretty unusual configuration.
