Wise idea?

So I just recently picked up a 97 Ranger with the 4.0L. It started running rough and the mechanic thinks, after running some tests, that #5 piston has a broken ring. I have access to a 3.0L engine out of a 2000 and was wondering if this would be a smart swap? Also I'm guessing that the trans won't mount up to the 3.0L?

Any help or suggestions are more than welcome. Thx!

Not a good idea at all. Different motor, different trans, different wiring harness, different computer, and different fuel system....Just source another 4.0L from the junkyard...
