Wiring problem

I replaced my 2.9 with a 4.0 and I don't have power to the fuel pump and no spark. My truck is an 89 Ranger and the donor vehicle was a 92 Explorer. I used the Explorer engine wiring harness and plugged it into my original instrument wiring harness in the cab (at the firewall).

I noticed that some to the wires on the Explorer engine wiring harness don't match the original instrument wiring harness. Do I have to splice wires or is it a straight plug in?
