wiring help

I like to find a factory grommet and poke a small hole in it and fish the wire through.

Knife to slit the hole, screwdriver to push through...

Yup.

Another way to get the wire through is attach the end of the wire you're fishing through to a several inch piece of stiff solid wire (to use as sort of a 'handle'), poke that through after slitting the hole in the grommet, then pull the the wire through using that.

what i like to do is to cut and X in the grommet so that the wire will push through easily.

Only problem I find with that is it doesn't seal around the wire as good as just pulling it through a small hole.

this is true, but really what exactly is going to be coming through the fire wall? water maybe if you are an off road truck yes. but not a whole lot if its a street truck.

This is what I use for the initial hole:

After getting a hole in it, I use some bailing wire to fish everything through. It works great. Also, if you make a U in the wire before the grommet it creates a drip point (aka drip loop in commercial wiring) for any water......if that makes sense?

OK, I made a stupid pic of what I mean, LOL:
