well i finally got the engine just about complete and i started ripping things out of the ranger today when i realized that the wiring harness seemed to be the engine and body harness together. i got a brand new main harness and a fuel injection and o2 harness and computer for the engine. so basically what wiring do i get rid of from the ranger and how do i get the engine harness to connect to the ranger body functions. i just read a post that said about cutting up the new harness and splice it in. but i def dont want to go that way.
oh and its an 86 2.3, 2wd, no ac, no cruise control, 5 speed
thanks

by looking at the wiring harness for the enigne it looks like ill just need to get the brown 8 pin connector and the green 8 pin connector attached to the ranger. is that all?

engine and trans and everything are out now all i have left is some plugs on the drivers side that went to the the engine harness. anyone know what connects to what on the green and brown 8 pin connectors w/ as little cutting of the new harness as possible?

go to the ALLDATA site and order the wiring diagrams you need in order to make the conversion...they e-mail them to you in about 24 hours....you save a week of trying to figure it out without frying some wires & sensors...........

wish i could help.. im having the same problem getting my wiring finished. damn fuel injection.

Most of the wiring is very similar to what's found at this site. very good site to bookmark.
