The engine is a 1998 2.5 using the 1996 Fuel Injection setup...the question is near the bottom if you want to skip the "how did I get to this point"...
I've been trying to track down a CEL for P0351 the last few weeks (ok, not really going whole hog on it yet) and I just happened to be standing on the driver side the other day with the engine running and noticed an arc from the driver side #1 plug wire to the engine removal hook that is bolted on at that point.
Curious, I went out at night a few nights ago to see how much arching was going on...the first two plugs on the driver side were sparking and arching out quite a bit...passenger side (the business end so to speak) looked OK.
Not sure if this would be causing the error code (but it felt like a good discovery) since it is on the primary coil for cylinder 1...which I thought to mean the passenger side coil.
So...I called around and got a price on the wires...didn't buy them yet since I was waiting to win a lottery before shelling out any more money on the truck...but I was in Canadian Tire yesterday and while getting a price on their wire set (Champion) I saw a picture of the wires...
The passenger side appears to have an extender type of connector that, I assumed, would allow changing the plug wires without removing the intake...
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
