I'm in the market for a wireless router. I don't know much about them except the perpose of them. I'm just curious to who makes the best ones. I would like to go cheap but feel free to give me any brand at any price. If it matters what modem I have it's a motorola surfboard. Sorry if it's a horrible brand it came supplied by the cable/ internet company. The installer gave a verbal crash course on how to install a wireless router, cause I want one to run both my laptop and PS3.

Well you might as well go with a wireless N router. D-Link and NetGear make good ones, i would be leery of Belkin, we have bought 2 in the past because they were cheaper and they dont seem to last as long as they should.

Netgear has crossed my mind, I have a netgear wifi card in my laptop.

My Cable Company gives them out for $5 shipping.
It is a Netgear-N and it works OK for free.
Distance is a little limited but there is a setup for a second one to reduce space/time.

I only use it for my Wife’s and my iPods but there is a lap top in the works for the Wife so she will be happy.

My only question will be if this router will work OK on TV downloads.

I was having problems with my Charter internet involving my son's Xbox getting kicked off the network. Charter's tech said he thought there was a problem with the router...so I bought a new one....and it DID NOT fix the problem.:icon_confused:

So I've got a like new D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Gigabit Wireless Router sitting here.

$55 shipped if you can use it.

I currently have the modum connected to the PS3 so we can watch netflix. I had problems the first couple days we had the net. the PS3 had trouble reading the modum it knew it was connected to one but some how it kept losing it. Finally after a couple days of reseting and reconnecting the modum it finally worked and been going non-stop. I don't think my cable company has wireless router, he paniced when he showed up and I asked him if it was a wireless connection.
