Wire guage???

Does anyone know what guage the wire is on an 88 harness? Mine looks like 14 on things like the lights but 16 on most other things...

Problem is I put in a trailer light connector to replace the crumbly old 8 wire connector for the headlights...and when I was trying to get that connected properly I left the lights on to test the circuit and the wire got hotter than I'd expected...thought maybe I'd put a smaller guage in between them than should be there...

There all different gauges in the harness, though looking at my diagrams, it appears the taillight circuits are #18 AWG, and the headlamp wiring (hi & lo beams) is #16.

Thanks...I didn't think to check the wire diagrams...doh!

I will check out replacment wires today...gotta get this done before the cold/wet weather gets here...if I start now I might finish by spring...lol
