Hey guys, has this happened to you? My 1993 wipers quit working on low, came back to life for a few weeks, then died forever. They still work on high. After figuring where the wiper governor module is, I have power going in on the brown white from the stalk switch but cannot warp my body enough to check for power coming out on the white wire. There is NO power on the white wire at the wiper motor. My assumtion is the module is bad; as I have wiggled a lot of wires, a lot of times. Has anybody else had to replace one of these? At about $150, they are a little pricey to guess about. Thanks for any input!

those things fail regularly....but if you have any knowledge at all about electrial stuff, don't replace it till you've pulled the cover.i've found that often it's a soldered connection to the relay inside that fails.you can tell just looking at it,resolder it and it should be good.

if not,you haven't lost anything but about 10 minutes of your time.if so....you just saved $150.

Thanks. I do have some idea about electrical stuff. (I do boats, though...not cars, per se.) I could see that it looked like the cover would come off, so that's what I will do! Makes sense that it might be a solder joint, since it did die, come back, then die again. It was 20 degrees today, I was in my union suit and just could not physically reach that white wire on the plug, to back probe it! Maybe tomorrow!

yup...just two screws to hold the cover on,and with the cover off the circuit board just falls out.

pretty simple to work with.

Need that schematic?

I've got it handy. PM an e-mail address.

Hi again,

Sorry it took so long to get back on this! The next day, I took the wiper governor out on my coffee break, took it apart and found a bad solder joint, just as you said! I cleaned up the area, resoldered and put it back in. It works great now!! Thanks again!! I wish I could email beer because I owe you one. Fantastic! It made my week!

By the way, my little Haynes manual has some decent diagrams, which were good enough to troubleshhoot this problem. My Wrangler diagrams are not as good. So, I lucked out with the diagrams, too!

glad it worked out.

i've run into this same problem many times.seems the relay is strong enough for the motor current, but not the solder joint.
