Great stuff, Bob!

I wish I had glass that sharp....

Thank you Jay!

I found years ago if you want sharp photos with great color and contrast, you need high quality optics. However, high quality optics cost big $$$.

My Canon 100mm Macro is the sharpest piece I own right now. I have never used an "L" lens, but it seems that those who have used L-glass feel that the macro is worthy of the "L" designation, and it's reasonably priced. Still, the length of the lens (on a "crop body" to boot) really limits it's usage.

Like you said though, the phrase "you get what you pay for" really seems to apply when it comes to razor sharp glass. There are a few high quality pieces to be had on a budget, but unfortunately not many.

I know, I should switch to Nikon, right? :D

Right now, I would say Nikon has the edge over Canon with DSLRs. However, if you have a lot invested in Canon glass, then it isn't worth switching to Nikon. I have a friend that is a professional photographer, and he said if he didn't have a large investment in Canon glass, he would be shooting with the Nikon D3s right now.

Wow, very beautiful. I love that old mill. Thats the kinda place I can see turning into a homestead and living off the grid. Maybe hook up to the river and run some sort of hydroelectricity. Man, those pictures have me day dreaming.
