windshield wiper problems

Hi my wipers only come on at high speed in aux only, i start truck they stop mid way up and dont work any thoughts? i checked all fuses they seem to be fine thanks mike.

It sounds like you have some wiring/switch trouble in the column.

Sounds like you need a new multifunction switch,it controls your headlights,turn signals,flashers and your wiper functions.

I don't know about the '98 but I had the same problem with my '87 and replaced the control which I ordered through LMC Truck. I'm just glad it wasn't the wiper motor as the access to disengage the blades is too small for my hands.

Before replacing any parts, disconnect the battery for 10/15 minutes and then reconnect. The body control module (or whatever it is really called) controls operation of the wipers (and a whole bunch of other stuff). I had problems with the wipers and door locks acting weird. They would just turn on and off by themselves when turning the key on or off. Anyway, I disconnected the battery for another reason and that fixed those problems too.

Probably not your problem; but, worth a shot!
