Will a windshield out of a 89 ranger xlt fit a 92 ranger custom 4x4 ???

Mine is cracked and I just came from the PMPS (poor man parts store) and saw one. They want $40 for it, I just have to let them know a couple days in advance. They also have manual hubs in a couple broncos ( 80's), just wondered if they would work on my 92 ranger? $20 bucks for a pair sounded good to me. Course, nothing wrong with my autos.

I went to Advanced prior to going...was needing a headlight bulb...Advanced wanted $11.49 for one. Also needed the little bulbs to light the license plate, Advanced wanted $4.99 each. Went to the PMPS and I got the headlight bulb, 2 little bulbs, wiper blade arm and about 20 fuses all for $4.00

Are you talking about a salvage yard? If that windshield is in really good shape....40 bucks is a good deal. They should know what years are interchangeable with yours. Lights bulbs are supposed to last for a long time. I still have all of my original bulbs on my 99 Ranger (except for the third brake light. I replaced it with a digital unit two years ago and sold the original one on ebay). If they guarantee the bulbs buy them. If not get them new then.

Yeah...junk yard junky here! I'll probably get the windshield if it fits. Any know how hard it is to take a broke one out and replace with a good one? I can't afford to take it somewhere, I'll have to do it myself. Unless it's a big job...then I'll keep my cracked one.

Windshields are a pig to remove, but you may have more patience than I do.

Won't your insurance cover it. Most plans (at least in my state) have free windshield replacement on them.

As for the hubs.. are those of B2's or Full sized Broncs? If they are FSB's no. If they are from B2, maybe, but I kinda doubt it. I don't think the D-28 and D-35 hubs can be swapped.

I just got a windshield replaced in a 94 Ranger for $130. The guy that did it does it for a living and he did mine on the side. It would have cost me at least $50 to get a used windshield and then whatever kind of tools and glue I would have needed to replace it. This way I have a brand new windshield and didn't have to do any work and I know it was done by a professional. I would at least call a glass store and price one out before deciding either way because it might not cost much more.

ya the windshield will fit but there is a metal molding that goes around the outside it requires special tool to remove clips it kind of looks like an arrow on the end if your lucky you might be able to use a screwdriver and then a cutout knife is used to cut out around windshield or you might be able to use a thin razor knife on the inside then cut and clean the pinchweld (area where windshield sits in glue) you will need 2 tubes of windshield urethane DO NOT USE SILICONE set new one in place lightly push glass into glue all around then reinstall clips and molding.:icon_thumby: oh by the way only a glass shop will carry the urethane and it is probably like 12 bucks a tube depending on what kind they carry.

also you might be able to borrow those tools from the junkyard Im sure they have them since they have to pull it.

ask em if they can replace it, replacing windshileds is not an easy task
