okay so i'm looking at all the different ones.. most seem to say superwinch or warn, but others have had smittybilt and not had any issues with them. i've talk to several people around the country... i'm half way down to try a RC but a bad winch makes a bad day worse as i've been told.

so the superwinch ep9 vs epi9, is the integrated solenoid the only difference? what is the better way to go?
the draw is better on the superwinch compared to the warn.. what else?

what about deals or coupons? what seems to be the best way to buy these? where at? can 4wps price match a M8000 i find online? (just for example)

i'm not looking to do synthetic rope or anything, i'm just trying to take the advice of everyone and buy one of these two brands.

i've done so much info searching i can't remember what is what.. i'm not asking you to take busy times out of your life to answer my questions..if you're that busy or want to complain i didn't do research- just don't answer.. i just like hearing from people i actually know and would assume i can trust more than just what i read other places online..

i know, i know..again right? i'm a newb, never bought a winch before.. and want all the info before spending $600ish. the obvious answer is either warn or superwinch, m8000- epi9.0, so on... so far i like the ep9 but don't know if the epi is worth the extra $80. the superwinch has a lot less amperage draw on it..

but it's hard to justify that 600 when Smittybilt does it for 300, and Rough country just came out with one that is 300 that i get 10% off of... the RC looks like a rebadged SB to..

IF and when I get the money (ha, ha....), I will be getting a winch for my CJ-7. (I don't really have any plans to "build up" the Ranger......yet......) But the one I have picked out is a Smittybilt XRC 1.0 HD. 10,000lb rating, combined with a 150psi compressor. Quadratec has it for $750.00.

(Update.....they HAD it. For some reason, it's been "discontinued" by Smittybilt.)

i'm not needing all that.. i just want a winch for pulling me out... several have said the smittybilt is fine, several have said its junk... regardless of their warranty, how is that gonna help me when i'm stuck on a trail? lol...

i might say screw it and get a SB and if it don't work great, i'm only out about $300...
its just hard for me to justify the 600 on a winch when i don't wheel a lot...

Well if you dont wheel a lot, perhaps spending the lesser amount of money is the better option. Also do you wheel alone? I never NEED a winch 'cause there is always someone else around, and nobody seems to get THAT stuck...

The one exception being the time my buddy thought his Ranger wouldn't sink in 6' of snow... So after getting stuck, he put chains on the back end. And dug him self in. lol Then someone with a big F350 had to haul him out with a winch...

Use the search button, Bro. So many topics on this question......

i have.. i've read a lot. read several forms twice or more. this is actually quoted from my local off road forum. and i just decided what the hell, lets see what TRS has to say...

Smittybuilt should be fine the line speed is good and quality is good. It seems to be well made and the wiring is easy to set up. I'd get it

XR8-9,000 is all you will need. Smittybilt accessories are SUPER!!!!!
