Anyone ever make a winch mount for a 98+ my buddy said he would hook me up. Anyone have any plans for one?

Jeff

I've been looking at them and figuring out how it could be done. I don't have any kinda fab skills or the funds to do it right now, but I would like a winch on the front of the truck.

Go to junk yard or craigslist and buy the cheapest hitch you can find ($20-$40)

Sit in front of bumper with a pad of paper and a pencil.

No need for a measuring tape, cause I will tell you right now the frame rails, inside-inside measurement is 26.5".

Draw what you want, go to welder (your buddy?), pay/feed him for 60 minutes of work to have him cut the end brakcets off and reweld them to the picture you should have draw while sitting in front of your bumper with that pencil and paper.

On the way home with your new hitch, drop in a hardware store and grab some black spraypaint. Also grab 4x 1/2" grade 8 nuts/bolts/washers, I used 5" bolts to go through the frame top to bottom.

I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

Cost me $100. Now I just need a winch to go on it.

Or you could do what I just did and buy a front hitch receiver and mount your winch in a cradle. Then you can hook it up front or rear depending on the situation. Much more useful IMO. How often do you wanna pull yourself further into what you got stuck in.

Do you have a pic of your front setup? Do you loose any ground clearance up front?

Where did you buy yours from? I've been looking but I haven't found one yet...

I have been trying to find the same answers...

SHOOT! I used to have plans from an old RF member for his winch plate for 98+ trucks.

It mounts to the factory towhook locations. Uses like 12" c-channel and some flat bar.

Here's what it looks like:

ME.........I installed a front hitch, and am eventually going to run a 8k winch, and route quick connectors front and rear. Have the hitch mounted in a carrier.

That looks good! I may end up doin that too my ranger too... except i've got a 93 i just don't wanna pay $500 for a winch mount when i'm gonna have that into the winch.

I was looking through the TRS Fab & Off-Road section yesterday and saw that Warn actually makes a grille guard with a winch mount. It looked pretty sweet. I'm going to start saving my pennies.:D
