I am getting ready to start on a winch bumper and I had a question. Winch you put the plate on between the frame rails do you cut the frame horns off and cap the front off too or is it just a preference thing? And if you do are the d rings or tow points connected to the frame or just the bumper?

it all depends on prefferance i think now on the d rings, if u make ur bumper strong enough then u can mount them to the bumper but most of the time when i see them they are mounted to the frame or right by where the bumper mounts cause that is usually the strongest point of ur bumper.

I 2nd that. Build a sturdy bumper (3/16-1/4" material and put some supporting angles and/or support gussets) it will do you right.

i cut my frame horns off and used the holes in the crumple zone. i ran some tube between them and bolted my bumper that way. my main bumper is 1/8 plate and center winch mount is all quarter. i have 3/4 shackle mounts welded to the front and ive had no problems at all.

I've always thought about going with them but I kinda want to build my own. They look like its missing something lol.
