I've been looking at the clarion cx400, its a double din. Ive been really skeptical on buying a new stereo cause i hate all those little mini sized head units. But i found a double din at frys on sale for $150 normally $200. It has 2 usb, 2 rca, and 1 front aux input. The sizing matter of the stereo is not my concern. MY concern is that i have a 2004 ranger with the pioneer sound system with the little sub in the front console. I like the fact of having a little bit of decent bass without shaking the whole neighborhood. Well i need to know if i will still be able to hook up the sub connector somehow.

on my stereo, in the back, there are 3 connectors. One for the main stereo harness, one for the radio antenna, and then a third for the sub. If i disconnect the third one, no subwoofer. and looking at the back of this clarion unit, there is only one for the main harness, rca, usb, and antenna.

Does anyone know of a way to make all of this work?

here is a picture of the clarion unit. and ill add a picture of the back of my factory pioneer unit later.

I am not sure. Typically, I can say there is a way for it to be done. You may need a special harness. Sorry im not more help. Free bump though

yea im not particularly looking to afro engineer it. But will if no other options. I just need someones input and ways to connect it all together.

Also i do believe the factory sub is externally amplified, if thats makes any diffrenence.

Post a pic of the back of your factory unit and I might be able to give you a hand... nothing is impossible.

lmfao at afro engineer. We call it rigging :D

You should be able to go to a stereo shop or even Walmart and get what they call a Uniter. Basically it takes two male RCA's and turns them into one female. Theyre dirt cheap. I got a Stinger one at a speaker store and a Scosche one in Walmart. There's really no difference, except for the Walmart one was about 1/3 the price. But, after you get one of these, plug the two male ends into your two sub outputs on your new head unit, then plug the female into your sub. that should solve your subwoofer trouble.

Yea I'll go out and take a picture of it. It's dark and late. Of course nothing is impossible. It's just to what extent do I want to rig this set up

there will be a way that isn't considered rigging. There's likely a "kit" that you will need.

now the connector in the middle, between the main wiring connector and the anntenna is the plug for the sub. if i unplug it, no sub. so maybe no that yall see it i can get some ideas.

thanks

Well I bought the stereo and the "factory amp/sub integration adaptor" basically it's a cable to convert the plug to RCA. And provide power. I'll install it tomorrow and let y'all know how it works out.
